nothing like smoking a bowl then listen to surround sound.
esp if you never had your own home theater all set up until 2 days ago.
oh, and my XBox 360 finds my comp on the same network, so it plays all the songs off my comp, and has HDMI sound, with badass trippy visualizers FTW

What kind of surround sound system are you using? Is it one of the systems that comes all in one box or did you pick out your speakers and receiver? Reason i ask is because my roommate has a shitty sony surround system and the thing doesn't work right with his 360 when we hook up the digital input. I really haven't had much time to fuck with it but the subwoofer is what's really giving me a problem.

A good home theater is like sitting in a giant pair of headphones.

i agree, i don't understand how people can listen to their tv's without a stereo system attached to it. Even the high end plasma's and big screens built in sound is garbage compared to some nice speakers and a good surround receiver.
I <3 my home theater setup i have at home, i need to get my ass off the couch and figure out a good way to hook my surround speakers in the rear.

I have surround (7.1) on my computer system. I would listen to MP3's with WinAmp and their visualizations while high.

Yamaha. I think it's a mid system. nothing extravagant. Speakers + sub came in one box, which my parents got me for xmas.
They didn't realize I also needed a receiver... so I picked up a Yamaha receiver too, it was $250.
Plays my 360 fine... will play my PS2's sound, but not video, so I have to plug the video end into the TV and sound into the receiver. Then our satellite is the type of receiver that holds two DVRs for two rooms... well, the problem is satellite gets to me via a cable. No coax on the back of my receiver. So once again I have to put the TV's sound output on the receiver and keep the coax in the back of the TV, which pisses me off b/c the whole point of having a receiver is so you can just switch the receiver's output instead of change the receiver's output AND change your TV to the appropriate channel.
although I did just have a thought. I should also connect the video out that's by the audio out and see if that'll make my cable come through the receiver.
BRB lemme see if that works.

FYI there's a quick fix to convert a coax cable to RCA

that's the one thing about cables, if it doesn't fit 9 times out of ten there's an adapter for it
My dad is a pretty hardcore audiophile, i grew up around this shit, we always joke about how the only things we enjoy doing cost tremendous amounts of money
