I tried two different teks here... First I tried the tek I found at myco fanatic and Injected them with an old EC syringe. The next day I sent off for some more spores from someone else. So two days later I used AMD's microwave honey water tek with South American. A couple days later I saw little white things floating around in the SA jar, but the EQ jar had little white fuzzy balls floating in it. My question is- Does/Can mycelium form little fuzzy white puff balls, or is it stringy? The stuff in the other jar isn't big enough for me to tell if it is stringy or puff ball like. What do the expierenced ones think?

Yes, it will form both ways. Little balls or strands. Gently shaking the jar will break up the balls promoting better growth.

Here is a Malaysian culture after 7 days.

okay next question.... The Jar of SA has stopped growing and the EQ's have gotten thicker (still nowhere near the 7 day growth that Shdwstr had). The SA's just look like white dust particles at the bottom of the jar and haven't grown since the third or fourth day. It never even got stringy or puff ball like. Whats up with that? No Contams growing in it (yet). Was it just the microwave tek I used? It should be kept in darkness, right?

Anyone..... Anyone?

Keep shaking the SA'a I've had jars that did take 2 weeks just to start to colonize, then all hell broke loose.... I've also had a few strains that never did start. Those white specks could just be carmelized sugars... give it some time before you give up on it.

BTW - Your EQ jar doesn't have to look like the pic I posted to be effective. When the mycellium runs out of nutrients it will stop growing on it's own. That is when you make your syringes or refridgerate the jar for storage.
