Will a Cool Mist with a built in fan provide enough air movement?

Placed inside a 176 quart bin with a casing tray on either side.
Would the cool mist long with some holes provide a nearly hands off FC?
And yes, yes, yes, I know, 4-5 inches of moist perlite on the bottom works well, I know that.
I am hoping for some advice that does not contain the word perlite.
I am not knocking peeps who use it, just peeps who cannot conceive of another way.
As I see it, perlite on the bottom and below your casing tray is not as good as cool misting above the casing, just an opinion.
Plus, I don't like perlite!

How many holes and how big of holes and just holes or holes and polyfill?
If ya don't like perlite look up a mono tub don't need a mister or anything to add water to the air. just 4 holes and no fanning look up monstermitch and his journal.

Well the number of holes is not yet determined. As many as needed I guess.
Yes, monotubs work well, and this is sort of a double tray monotub really, with a cool mist keeping Rh high.
In my location, Colorado, the Rh is usually below 20%. So opening the tub to manually fan can lower the Rh from 99 to 75 real quick!

I basically like to set the tray on a lil shelf covered with clear plastic and let the coolmist blow right in front of it. Mine has an impeller...I do not care for the ultrasonic...constant FAE sure makes pinning faster and not a lick of contams since I have started doing this...I am able to keep a close eye on things otherwise a timer might be nice to ensure you arent drowing your babies.

With any kind of humidifier in a tub you risk waterlogging the trays unless you use a timer. Watch the humidity levels like a hawk for the first few days and make sure water doesn't pool anywhere.

yeah mine pools alot cuz im lazy, with uncased poo straw though, after you get a good initial pinset nothing really suffers if you can shake em off a bit, drain em, whatever, havent had to dunk btwn flushes. My point is that if you are afraid and arent going to use one cuz you cant do a timer for some reason...dont be afraid...I think the benefits outweigh the risks if you can get your initial pinset right, if you are casing yeah you would end up with mud or overlay...my laziness only claims to be effective for uncased poo straw.

Thanks for all the great info peeps!
The Cool Mist my foaf is using does not pool up at all.
In fact, he put it in a FC (176 quart) last night with 2 trays and it runs almost constantly to get the Rh at 90% just above the trays, maybe 3 inches from the casing layer.
Is this Cool Mist WEAK?
The constant FAE is great though!
The fan is constantly pulling air off the casing, which yes, will dry it faster, but hey, evaporation is a pinning trigger right? Plus, a light misting twice per day solves that!
So my foaf has the Cool Mist in the middle, with 2 trays, one on each side, and five 3/8 inch holes drilled on either side at the bottom, directly across from the Cool Mist's intake.
This pulls fresh air from down low and pushes it up high, where there are also 5 holes on either side to vent out the high pressure.

He has 10, 3/8 inch holes near the bottom on either side of the Coll Mist intake.
Also 10 holes drilled near the top.
The cool mist has a fan that blows straight up, lifting the stale air above the casing right up with it!
He put some burning incense inside an empty tray to watch the current flow, and it pulls right up from the bottom of the tray toward the lid, some 12+ inches above.
I wonder though, did he drill to many holes, since the Rh is only 90% three inches above the substrate.
Still, 90% Rh with near 24/7 air flow! That's CAE not FAE.
