HELP ME! Jar question
    #7818910 - 01/01/08 01:49 AM (16 years, 1 month ago)

So my first attempt at PF-TEK was a failure. However, I remain optomistic

My question is - After I had sterlized the jars, it appeared that the substance was going to be tough as nails to remove from the jar once colonized.

Am I wrong? Or is there a way to get by this? Did I do something wrong the start?

I didn't pack it in tight or nothing like that at all.

A hard tap on a table top should get even the denses of substrate out of a jar.

it doesnt sound like you did the pf tek or you do not have commen sense. Which is it. pf tek call for 1/2pint wide mouth jars. If it doesnt look like the substrate will fall out of the jar then either you are stupid or you are not following the pf tek and not using the right jars.

When we say follow the pf tek we mean follw the pf tek. We do not mean follow everything in the pf tek except use differnt jars.
We mean to wait untilo you find the right jars before you start and fuck up like you did

just saying if he didn't use a wide mouth jar but still a half pint jar, wouldn't it still work ,just he would have to crack the jars open to get the cakes

You can fruit them right out of the top of the jar if you don't birth. The cake can be cut up and remvoved after the flushes. However, the substrate should not be solid after sterilizing. If so, something is wrong. It won't be solid until after full colonization.

Well, start with wide mouth jars for one, they are not difficult to birth if you wait long enough for the cake to colonize.

So your cakes look cemented into the jars? Sounds like you used too much water.
