Need help with web site stuff
    #781889 -

Hi,

I realize that posting the same message in more than one forum is usually verboten on the Shroomery. But, I figured that by posting in two forums, I get the most exposure. So sue me.

If anybody could help me with the following I would appreciate it.

I am starting a web site/business. I am going to be a person who looks for drivers (for computer components) for people who can't find them. On this site I want several things that I am not sure how to implement.

1. I want a section where a person can write an e-mail message to me, (without loading up a mail program. I want it all done through a regular web page). I want there to be five fields/text boxes (these fields will be one line fields where you can type in stuff):

-What is your e-mail address
-What is the manufacturer of the component that you want drivers for?
-What is the model number of the component that you want drivers for?
-What is the FCC number of this component?
-Is this component internal or external?

Then I want there to be a 10 line field/text box

-Is there anything else you would like to add

After a person fills these in and clicks OK, it emails me all of the information that was typed in. Anybody have an idea how to do this, or where I can just rip it off of another site?

2. I need to know how to make it possible to jump to various points in the same page. I have a commonly asked questions section with nine questions. I want the answers to all be on the same html page, but I want it so that when you click on a question, it moves to it's appropriate answer on the page. I think you have to do something like the following link to : www.driverfinder.com/questions#question1

I remember seeing the # in there on pages that are like this.

If anybody knows how to do either of these things, or if they know a site that has the following things so I can just steal it from the html, please let me know.

I know how to do the web mail form thing if you're hosted on a unix/Linux machine with CGI available. How much do you know about your web host? If you have access to cgi.bin then I can help you.

The second thing is an 'anchor' and is a piece of cake. You define an anchor point and then use an ordinary link to jump to it. Find yourself a web page that contains them and examine the source - it should be pretty obvious but I can send/post an example if you need.

Good luck - sounds like a worthwhile thing to do.

Wow that's quite the lot of questions I once ran little company for a while on the net bravenet has forms that sound kind of like what you need you just design a questionaire and they fill in whatever you make and then it goes to a certain place your email address if that's where you choose I think they work pretty slick I'm sure the coding isn't too hard to figure out that's a load of questions to answer all in one I'd look it all up for you to tell you what you really need but I'm strapped for time I usually do graphic/web design all the time but not in that particular area so I'm rusty there;)
