heres the problem. all at once, my laptop has developed some problems, and im not quite sure how to go about fixing them.
1) the screen no longer works, when i power it on there are just alot of vertical thin lines that eventualy all just fade to black.
2) the mouse pad does not work anymore, nor do the buttons.
now, when i plug in my laptop to my tv via its s video output i can see the screen. and when i plug in a mouse, i can have controll over the cursor. but regardless i would like to get the laptop back to its usual self.
if anyone can help i would appreciate it. its an acer 5610-4537 running vista.

first of all, make sure the resolution is correct for the screen.. that could cause it to fck up but i'm sure you checked that since you seem to know what you're talking about..
maybe replace the inverter board? i've heard they can go out.. especially if your laptop has some age on it.
as far as the trackpad, i cant really offer up any suggestions because i've never had that problem..
there is usually a key combination that turns it off like FN + (some key)
try pushing those different combinations and it might cut it back on.
alright hope that helps a little.

yeah, i was thinking it might be the inverter board too, i remember reading about that when my ol laptop screen went out...
although i think that something had to have broken internally, be it hardware or software, for these 2 issues to come about at the same time.
im going to probably offload all of my data and send the computer in. so gay

Yeah, the inverter board definitely sounds like it could be the issue here. Either that or the screen went kaput. You can get a USB mouse or a laptop mouse as well to take care of the issue. I'm not sure what would cause it to work. I know that FNC + F5 turned my screen off on my old laptop. Have you tried that?

yeah, i can play around with the display options, the laptop display will power on , but only shows a series of colored vertical lines, that all fade to black within a minute or 2
