Fastest way to spawn bulk substrate. Results are in.

My experiment was simply to find out if there was much of a difference spawning bulk with colonized rye seed or P.F. tek brown rice flour verm. cakes ground quickly in a blender, the same amount of each. The boxes spawned with the PF cakes have colonized at least twice as much area as the rye, the inoculated points of the PF start much smaller but many more points of inoculation led to a much quicker colonization. I would say that if you can get PF cakes to colonize as quickly as quarts of rye, then it seems to be a much quicker way to colonize bulk with the same amoumt of spawn.

soupnds like a factual and scientific finding. Hopefuly more people will follow your lead and waste their time.
a 1 pint pf cake will not colonize faster than a 1 pint jar of grain when using the same amount of inoculum per jar. \ Pf cakes may not be fully colonized even if they appear so.
Chopping up a pf cake in a blender as opposed to shaking a grain jar doesnt sound like a good idea.
There are many more reasons why grain is better for bulk but you just go ahead with you finding and keep on posting bs
-------------------- Stop experimenting half way through your first grow. Grow it to maturity, watch it, learn from it. Do this a few times then experiment with different ideas and figure out what works best for you.

Yea because we don’t want our members performing wicked craft such as "experimentation". But that’s ok Tahoe, you keep posting your pretentious BS further proving you’re an ignorant pace of shit.
soupnds like you’re a tool.

i think the PF spawn would colonize the bulk sub quiker if blended or shredded du to the high inoculation points of the shredded cake, but it does take much longer to col. a cake rather than rye rye is approxamatly 33-55kernals per gram depending on the source
a PF cake shreeded would have hundreds or possibly a thousand small colonized particles that would each serve as an inoculation point.
does this make any sense?

And each grain of rye/wbs would act as a point as well.
It seems regardless of introduction points, the mycelial network has been devastated in either case.
However, a quart of pf cake vs a quart of grain during colonization? That cake will take the time gained in its rapidness of spawning in bulk just to colonize.

Interesting experiment.
Yes a pint pf cake will take much longer than a pint of grain, simple solution, use half pints but twice as many.

check this if your interested http://www.shroomery.org/forums/showflat.php/Number/10648149 . Your bulk would need more nutrition if you were to spawn with cakes to achieve comparable results to spawning with whole grains. The whole grains give more available nutrition to fruit from but if you ground enough cakes in, it could help some. Read that thread and the comments you'll see what i mean.
