Substrate spoiling early..
    #7815998 - 12/31/07 05:06 AM (16 years, 1 month ago)

I wonder if anyone has run into this problem, after many spawn runs with out this happening to them. (i.e.) The substrate getting bubbles in it and getting too wet for the mycelium to grow. They start out perfectly dry like all others quart jars. Suggestions or recomendations.

My suggestion would be to PC the grain longer. 90 minutes or more should be sufficient.

If you're already PCing for that long, then you may want to check your inoculation technique. It sounds like you're getting bacterial contamination somehow.

What is the substrate?

Stop experimenting half way through your first grow. Grow it to maturity, watch it, learn from it. Do this a few times then experiment with different ideas and figure out what works best for you.
