If I don't have any casing material do I have to use it? Can I just take colonized WBS and crumble into trays, let it recover and then put in the FC to start knotting?

No. You have to case WBS. It will not hold moisture well enough.

well i know that you can just not crumble it and let it fruit like a BRF cake, would this be the smarter thing to do?

You seriously need to start using the search engine rather than asking every question that pops into your head in a new thread. You now have 4 active threads on the first page alone. These easy questions have all been answered hundreds of times and the answer is right there in the 'search posts' function, without cluttering up the board with repetitive and duplicate threads. Thanks. RR

The smarter thing to do, in my opinion, would be to spawn your WBS to bulk. That's sort of the idea when it comes to grains, from what I understand.

You should force every new registration attempt to answer a 10-question pop quiz before they can sign up. :P

That would be funny, however I think the main idea of this site is to give info to newbies so they can learn what all that means.

But it's function isn't to answer the same basic questions that have been answered again and again when they can be found out with a 30 second search.
It's function is to clear up any doubts about the information already available.
If say, someone asked, "what is gypum" the correct answer would be UTFSE. But if they asked something like, I am going to spawn to bulk, I already added gypsum to my grains, should I also add some to the bulk substrate? that would be a more valid question.
