Gypsum Vs. Gypsum

All I can find around here is the big ass 50 pounds bags of gypsum. Has anyone ever used a chunk or drywall/sheetrock and crumbled it into a powder and used this for casing buffer?
I have used oyster shell in the past but it doesn't dissolve enough to be 100% effective

I thought so, thanks rr. I think i might just get a small bag of cactus soil, it is ph balanced and should work fine also.

This is a clear case of UTFSE!!!
A quick search revealed : Gypsum is the same as chalk, as chalk is calcium sulfate not calcium carbonate. http://www.shroomery.org/forums/showflat.php/Number/7775245#7775245
