The Dark Side of Mysticism

Thou Art That
We often say "We are all one," and generally get a warm, fuzzy feeling about it. But have you ever considered the full implications of that? You are one with all the most horrible rapists, serial killers, and tyrants. The most despicable acts ever done by man lie in your heart is well. You are connected to it all. Attempting to distance yourself from them is delusion. You are one with them and they are one with you. Sleep tight.

Bah. All Puppets and Pawns except for Manson, whom I actually respect as a madman.
I find my Oneness with these men far more disturbing...

To extrapolate further, consider that Kabbalistic idea of tzimtzum, in which God contracted himself in order to create finite space for existence. When we follow this idea further, we find that we are defined as much by God's absence as by his presence.

This was pretty interesting.
My thought always was that this world is a place where all expectations are fulfilled, either through satisfaction or bait and switch, and desires wrought are then either engaged or destroyed. In other words, from the common materialistic perspective this is a world of dismal and selfish misery where some few attain greatness, but from a spiritual point of view, where this whole vast universe is seen as a tremendous gift then one can see the real love of the creatrix that she even lets those with huge and negative vision have their fifteen minutes of stardom and fame and satisfaction. Now how great is She who can give birth to such a world that everyone can feel the formation of desire and its satisfaction.
Now I know many will debate this, from their own standpoint, and say they have experienced a shit life and look at the starving in Kolkotta and so on, but we all start out as listless babies with no specification and it takes the crucible of our disenfranchisement to guide us to where our fulfillment does lay, hard as that crucible seems to break free of.
Even the Hitlers and Mansons are born of the Mother of All. All Her children. It IS the dark side of life, not mysticism.
I thought, SS, that you were going to say that it was the abused understanding of Upanishadic absolutism in the Mahavakyas which has led to megalomania.

Because our language has not provided a convenient gender-neutral pronoun.

What about the actual darker side of spirituality???!!!!
The side that allows you to believe that there is no right or wrong because god made everything perfect and that everything happens for a reason (very flawed logic IMO, but a great source of faith, which is very important)
Or the side that yearns for a more direct union with the creator and decides that taking one's own life would be the best way to go about doing that.
that's a pretty dark side.

Even though our mind-bodies are woven from space-time, and we are all 'one' in the space-time continuum, I do not think that that is the level of 'Oneness' that you are referring to. The very substratum of Mind - the Ground Rigpa - Clear Light - refers to the colorless Reality from which all form derives (matter and individual mind).
The Ultimate Oneness is of the ontological order, not the existential order. Clearly, the existential order of reality - Samsara - is characterized by "the ten thousand things," by multiplicity, diversity, opposition, chaos. Whatever 'unity' may be achieved in existence, it is impermanent because it is compounded. It is not ever going to be the Oneness of ultimate indivisible simplicity. The Kingdom of Heaven on Earth, or the Buddhist salvation of all sentient beings could only take place existentially if all beings Realized the universality of Being individually. Then, collectively there would be a Union of individuals-in-unity. Samsara would equal Nirvana, the Body of Christ would be made whole, the Tao will rest in itself, Tikkun will be complete, and every other metaphor for apokatastasis will be accomplished. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Apokatastasis
