Why Philosphize?
    #7811527 - 12/29/07 07:40 PM (16 years, 1 month ago)

When your feeble human minds can't even begin to comprehend anything.  As it will only complicate things and make you even more confused & depressed:confused:

Personally, I just can't stop. Really. It seems to be as much a part of me as eating and sleeping.

It is called too much free time...

"A warrior is a hunter. He calculates everything. That's control. Once his calculations are over, he acts. He lets go. That's abandon. A warrior is not a leaf at the mercy of the wind. No one can push him; no one can make him do things against himself or against his better judgment. A warrior is tuned to survive, and he survives in the best of all possible fashions." ― Carlos Castaneda

I like to deepen my understanding, or better said, understand that I really don't understand.

Because it's entertaining.
You only feel depressed and confused when you take things seriously.

All this time I've loved you
And never known your face
All this time I've missed you
And searched this human race
Here is true peace
Here my heart knows calm
Safe in your soul
Bathed in your sighs

For me, it's just part of who I am. I analyze, it's what I do. Sometimes it's a curse, sometimes it's a gift. It's sort of a pointless venture, I'll grant you that, because in the end nothing is certain. But it's just the way I am, I can't help it, and most of the time I enjoy it.

you're totally right but the grounding effect of it when you resolve something or get struck by something so simple yet so immense and then you're a huge smile for weeks after.

Why not philosophize?

where the fuck would humanity be without philosophy?
Maybe still up in the trees? Maybe that's better than in business suits and in glass and cement towers.

Because the unexamined life is not worth living [Socrates], and I comprehend more and more all the time, which in turn dispells confusion. Depression is not a problem when one awakens to the necessity of acceptance. You are only depressed because you are either averse to something (disease, old age, death perhaps?) or you are frustrated by your inability to acquire that which you desire. Acceptance is the result of an examined life - a life of understanding the nature of things also means understanding that Life, with a capital 'L' IS incomprehensible. Life, as in the two Hebrew letters (Yod + Heh) that's called a 'Chai' [gutteral, throat-clearing sound, as in 'L'Chaim' - 'To Life' in a Jewish toast] often worn around the neck is one of the Names for God (Yah). God is the Mystery of Life. In comprehending that Life or 'God' is incomprehensible, you have already begun to awaken. Don't feel depressed about it, you are finally standing on conceptually solid ground!
