Polyfil in stuffed animals?

I used the stuffing of an Orca plush toy (I'm pretty sure its polyfil) as a filter for my WBS jars. I was looking for tyvek and polyfil and it seemed to be an easy solution.
I was wondering what your opinions on this was. unusable or creative?.

any polyfil not fresh from the craft store bag is disgusting. the amount of skin cells, mites, bacteria, residues, in that shit is ridiculous.

yeah...voodoo ...
i should add (not that i'm sure it would matter) that the polyffil never comes into direct contact with the substrate (wbs) as i use a tyvek filter between the jar and lid. and just a FYI, i wash a flame over both sides of the polyfil to burn off/melt the loose fibers and then press them together. prevents the poly from being pulled out when you tighten the lid. hope it may be of some use. good luck

you really expect polyfill ripped from the inside of a stuffed animal is going to contain that much?

If it's a heavily used item, yes.
Anything that's on it is toast after a good PC run though. I don't care if you were growing a mold sandwich with polyfil inside it, it's going to be dead.
EDIT: For clarification, there are SOME extremophilic organisms that will survive a PC run, but the chances of one of those organisms being on the polyfil in your teddy bear are very low.

The stuffed animal is free coming from my old cabinet and i dont have to drive.
like I said, Im not worried about it too much. besides, The three jars of WBS I knocked up are doing fine. Its just incredibly easy to access when its in your room instead of the store.

Sometimes we get lazy and use whats on hand. I've done this (Used polyfil from a sofa) and it worked fine. Depending on how dirty your material is, you may wish to rinse it before PCing. If I was doing a large scale grow (which I never have), I would go out and buy a bag of polyfil. Why save $2.50 and risk an entire grow?

polyfill will not let out as much moisture as tyvek if used the way that both are intended. polyfill is reuseable, tyvek isnt if you poke a hole through it.
I have a 10X20 foot sheet of tyvek, will last forever
This if for the guy that though the best part of his bunny was hit nuts. You sick bastard
What is a Plushophile? A plushophile is someone who loves plushies. This can be for any reason and ranges anywhere from those who love to collect them to those who like to cuddle, sleep with or who become sexually involved with their plushies. Many, probably most, plushophiles are also furries. It is never safe to assume that particular plushophiles are sexually active with plushies, nor that they are inactive with people because of their plushophilia. Each individual is different.
-------------------- Stop experimenting half way through your first grow. Grow it to maturity, watch it, learn from it. Do this a few times then experiment with different ideas and figure out what works best for you.
