Evolution has brought us this far.
What's next in this chain of evolution?

Human evolution is technological right now. Technology will cause us to become extinct... or allow us to advance.

I expect the rich to become much more powerful and start practicing social Darwinism using technology to advance themselves while keeping the masses dumbed down or simply using robots as slaves. On the other hand, maybe we will have a conscious shift and start going inwards and becoming more advanced through self-dedication or maybe each will become it's own branch of humanity and split off again sometime down the road. Or we will somehow exterminate ourselves.

The world wide web is full of information.
But it is not all the same information.
How do we know what to keep and what to discard?
Information can do good as much as it can do harm.

taking control of our personal evolution and proceeding in what direction one so wishes. or unconsciously letting habits and modes of behavior lead us where they will. one now has the ability to take total control over their inner space and allow what one wishes to be in it, it is a choice and not easy, but what else is worth doing? looking at our society's negatives only leads to fear, fearing the future doesn't help the situation.

We are in formation, thus we need not discard any of it.. There is plenty of room for all, ...and then some!

Since Man did not evolve into being, further steps only create more and more devolution from the perfection of the original creation.

Whoa whoa, I'm just gonna guess you're speculating this off of devine inspiration.
Admit it, deep down inside you love this forum! It has been the very addiction your beliefs go against. As if there's so much 'wrong' here that you're trying to 'right'.

The next step is that we are going to all become Antichrists. Christ and all other messiahs taught us that salvation was our only hope because we needed to be saved. Messiahs have taught us that we are flawed.
We are in fact not flawed. This culture is not a representation of what humanity in fact is. It is merely one culture that has spun out of control. We existed in some form for millions of years and in the exact same form for 200,000 years before our current culture came to pass.
We all need to realize that we can change this. We can fix this. We don't need to be saved. We are the Antichrists.

I think the next step of evolution is going to have a lot to do with technology especially the internet. People are becoming less and less reliant on there physical body being present somewhere for the idea of themselves to be known. These forums is a perfect example.
Most people on here have never met in person however they are understood to exist and some may even feel that they really know individuals as people despite having never officially met. Another good example is myspace and facebook, some people live complicated lives just based on those internet social networks.
People are becoming less and less reliant on physical contact and when the need for physical comment is completley eliminated we will have reached the next evolutionary phase.

What a great question!
If I think about humanity in terms of popular culture, I don't have a lot of hope. All of that attention on celebrity and the accumulation of... stuff. But if I think about all the people I know in this small rural town, I believe we'll make significant spiritual and societal advances.
Human evolution: we seem to be expanding beyond our bodies in many ways. You can make it past that skin barrier through meditation, psychedelics, introspection, philosophy, and technology. That's gotta be the next step, some kind of expansive hyper awareness.
Societal evolution: The first big world-wide crisis (water shortage? Global Warming? War?) is going to force us to rethink our crap-collectin' ways. We're going to shift toward the simple. I hope.

That depends on whether we choose as a species to E-volve or DE-volve.
If we start taking positive steps towards taking care of each other and realize that love is more important than money then the next step (or perhaps next STOP?) would be noospheric consciousness.
Should we choose to follow our present path, and I think everyone agrees on this, the next step/stop will be extinction of our people, and the earth returns itself to equilibrium, and starts all over.
