"spikes" on BRF cake
    #7807526 - 12/28/07 02:10 PM (16 years, 1 month ago)

all of my cakes are starting to grow spikes which i searched and read that it is the myc network still growing. is this because i birthed the jars to early? will the cakes still pin and eventually fruit?
the spikes are getting to be almost an inch long, my cakes are starting to look like a fucking koosh ball.
thanks

Probably. Stop worrying, take a deep breath and go play on your console to forget about them.

Sounds like normal Myc growth. Don't worry...

IME, it IS due to birthing the cakes a little too soon.

The mycelium is still in the nutrient consolidation phase
(where the myc is eating nutes and growing stronger/healthier).

It is possible to birth cakes early that have BRF uncolonized,
and have prolific mycelium that will still colonize the cake.
HOWEVER, I DO NOT SUGGEST IT AS FAILURE IS PROBABLE.

Be more patient when they are in the jars, give them their dunk,
and THEN birth them.

Sticking to this method, (and providing adequate FAE)
should have fruits appearing in 7-10 days (sometimes less).
