does this casing layer look to dry?
    #7807260 - 12/28/07 12:14 PM (16 years, 1 month ago)

i just took it out of incubation today. they are my first mono's and ill admit i did look at them on a daily basis just to see how the colonization was coming along and to make sure their werent any contams.

i know its hard to see because its a top down shot but they are alot of rizo mycelium shooting up and i remember tahoe saying to knock those down with misting.

does it look like i should give it a good misting?

Looks good to me, don't want to get soggy.

How long have you had it colonizing and at what temps? Looks good so far. If it's been 3+ weeks then your spawn ratio is off.

You don't really want to knock them down, but you want to build your casing moisture to maximum just as pinning starts, because you'll back off slightly during primordia formation. I'd give it several good mistings an hour or so apart to build up your moisture level. You want to get the casing material as damp as you can without getting it 'wet'. Several smaller mistings are better than one flood.

Hard 2 tell, its not 2 wet as far as I can see.

Maybe mist a bit more, but as stated above dont wet/soak it but MOIST it.
