Many people claim P. carthaginensis is not active, even Schultes came once to my citie´s university in order to check it out and found no active alkaloids.
I found a very interesting study on Psychotria species which analyzes leaves harvested along the day, believe it or not but there are some times that the samples showed no alkaloidal content (harvested at midnight, the worst time if my memory serves me well).

So what's the best way to use P. cartha? I have a few seedlings growing myself...

How many leaves did you use when you tested and found it to be active?

Sieko: P. carthaginensis is good for Ayahuasca only.
Knoa: I have made a brew 2:1 (caapi/cartha), and it worked but very softly, I´d recommend a 1:1 ratio for the best.

Of course! The secret with caapi seeds is the freshness. It´s only once a year, around september.

Sounds cool, if I was going to do Ayahuasca, I wouldn't want a very strong dose... how many grams of cartha did you use? What is its potency compared to viridis?

I don't know if that's documented, aparently the alkaloids in cartha varies alot from plant to plant, some being inactive. Alba is 60% of Viridis accourding to Dennis Mckenna.
About 30 leaves of alba is a mellow for me.

You don´t really have to worry about it being too much, Ayahuasca is so subtle. I did like 90g caapi and 45 cartha. Not much weaker than viridis or alba, I´d say

that's my first success with germinating caapi. and some new leaf cuttings! 1 alba and 1 viridis, both doing well.
you have to love the way psychotria propagates. I want to develop a albaXviridis hybrid with the best of both species, I think mine will do much better this spring now that I have a greenhouse to keep the humidity high.
Felix, I would like a leaf or two of your active carth to try to root!

phenomenal plants, but DUde, the photos look like complete shit, just like all of the rest of your photography. I hate to be the one to break that to yah, and to have such lack of tact in doing so. However, I honestly could think of no nicer way to break the news. I wish I'd never mentioned a word to you about needing your own gallery. Sorry fellow shroomery family member. Some have it, some don't....
---- The above statement is TOTALLY a joke. It was just my turn to bash you! MMMWAHAHAHAHAHAH!!!!!! and your gallery is actually a magnificent piece of enteogenic life displayed in a beautiful way. But DONT let that compliment get to your head, or i will have to result to even worse feciscious insult (seriously, good fun)
