Not shaving legs, armpits, etc.

I have to admit...I'm thinking about not shaving my legs and other areas for awhile, maybe a few years. I think I'd just like to experience the totality of my being, instead of always trying to alter my appearence. It would be an experiment in unraveling social conditioning. After all, I just don't see the necessity of taking off hair that's there. Maybe someone could describe the value of shaving to me. I think it's just to highlight the difference between male and female, to propagate a more distinct rift between the sexes. In which case, for me, it feels natural to let myself be fuzzy right now.
Anyway...I have a razor ready in case I decide there is too much hair to bear. I guess I just don't care.

Yes, I'm in the clear. I haven't had sex in...MONTHS. I don't see it in my near future either, if truth be told.
Hey, at least I can still be sexy with myself.

a poet I see.
Unless you plan on having sex with some one that minds a lot of hair, I wouldn't worry about it.
It really bugs me how many of my friends that are girls value shaving their legs, and other areas. I don't find it that valuable unless you plan on having sex. It makes it softer and more intimate.
There really IS no other function except for aesthetics. As much of our culture as human beings is based around.
So I see nothing wrong with it, and I think it is a good idea.
It'll teach you to be in touch with your more natural side. From reading previous posts by you, it doesn't surprise me you would want to do something like this.:)

That's how my cousin is. She's settled down and is raising two kids with her boyfriend (They're his from a previous relationship, but she's been with him raising them the past 5 years or so.) Obviously it doesn't bother me because she's my cousin and our only interaction is getting high together or hanging out at family get togethers, and obviously it doesn't bother her boyfriend because they've been together for-fucking-ever now.
But personally I'd want the chick I'm banging clean shaven because it feels nice when a girl is all smooth and hairless. To each their own though, I won't judge a girl because she won't shave.*

I don't see what the big deal is . . . if a chick is clean I don't care if she doesn't shave. Keep the nethers trimmed though, choking on curlies sucks. And by trimmed I don't realy mean clean shaven, just short. My gf uses my beard trimmer to keep things just long enough to be soft and not bristly. I don't mind sharing the trimmer for this purpose

But why does having smooth and hairless underarms, legs and pussy region = equal sexy?
Please guys...I'm honestly curious.
I think it's because in our society hair on anyplace other then your head is seen as masculine because hair is a dominant trait in men, and to see too much hair on a woman triggers a sense of homophobia in men. So society stresses that hairless women are sexy, because that's a safe way of keeping the 'sameness' of male and female at a distance.
Oh, HAIR.
Anyway, if anyone has a better explanation for why hairless bodies are preferred with women, let me know. I'd certainly like to hear it.

My girlfriend just started shaving a few months ago for me (without my request) and she doesn't keep up with the growth... even when she does I don't prefer it.
She still doesn't shave the legs, but she doesn't need to. No hair there.
Really, she never had much hair anywhere anyway, but I preferred the little she had.

I think hairless is better because it just indulges my perception of a woman. When they're fresh out of a shower, skin glowing and smooth, I melt. If there's hair it's just kind of like, uh......
Plus hair tends to lock in smell. Mostly the unpleasant ones. I'd MUCH rather bury my face in an un-bearded clam.

why are big boobs sexy? why is a slender body sexy?
Its simply how humans are. If I could change it, I definitely would.
But when I am having sex with my girlfriend, I would much rather she be shaved recently. There is something about her soft legs on my body that nothing else can beat.
I can't explain it. It's just how people were made.
I wouldn't mind having a friend that didn't shave their legs/armpits. I would think that would be awesome. But if I wanted to have sex with that person, I wouldn't be too thrilled.
It's not a choice I made somewhere along the line. It just is.

Are you seriously asking this question? Sexual attraction is mysterious. Its not a choice we make ( we dont wake up one morning and say "I like hairy women now" ). Why do men like T&A, hips, smooth hairless skin? Why do men like women a little shorter and younger than them? Who knows. Some combination of evolutionary pressures and cultural norms.

Well, I don't think that shaving hair is just considered something for women to do anymore. I shave my pubes, and a couple times I tried shaving my armpits. I don't have any chest hair, so that's not an issue for me. It's all just a matter of preference. I prefer being more smooth. But if you like having more hair then have at it.

Okay, I accept those responses, thank you. And I'm not calling all you guys homophobic just because you prefer shaved legs; that's not what I meant, that was only a playful hypothesis. You enjoy smoothness. That's something I can relate to, actually.
It just makes me think; like how nobody could shave or remove hair unless they were human. Our tool using capacity makes us who we are, yet again.

I guess its just social conditioning, and preset expectations for your gender. Its ingrained in most of society, so don't be surprised if it gross's out most people.
That said, it was acceptable for all of my hobo/street punk/rainbow friends to go hairy, and unbathed within their little community. I actually made a bit of a fo pau when i was telling a story about one of my roommates never shaving her body, and one of them said "i don't shave either" I was like oh, well you just don't have access. And she said "i wouldn't even if i did have access" Than it got all quite for a while. It didn't gross me out, because i wasn't trying to bang any of the women. But hairy smelly sex= .
If your not shaving, why not ditch hygiene as well? The only reason i shower on a semi-regular basis is so i don't become a social leper. It is clearly a useless action, forced on us by society, because 200 years ago most people only bathed once a week.

My girlfriend quit shaving a year or 2 ago. Doesn't bother me at all. She's so damn sexy, she doesn't need to shave or wear makeup. It freaks her mom and sister out though. They keep buying her razors and fancy shaving gels and whatnot, but I support her in going natural.
I think that dislike of body hair is just a social conditioning that we recieve from the media. Allow yourself to think outside the forcefed media box.

To be honest I really don't know. I just know thats what is sexy to me. I think the whole hair vs no hair is a battle that was settled a long time ago. I don't consciously know why but somewhere it was imprinted into me.

Yes, now that you pointed it out. That makes PERFECT SENSE.
So it makes me wonder if not shaving legs is reverting, somewhat.

I wouldn't say it's reverting because you're born with the specific amount of hair on your legs genetically programmed. (Obviously you're not born WITH the hair, but when you're born the amount of hair you will have is pretty much pre-determined, if you don't believe me look at the differences amongst different nationalities)
Now if you were to say, attempt to grow a lot more hair than you would naturally have, that could be an attempt at reverting I guess

In regards to MYSELF shaving (you guys do what you like): shaving my body hair still seems to be neurotically avoiding what is true at the present moment for my being. Which is that I have body hair that I haven't seen long and fluffy since my pre-adolescent period.
I guess I'm kinda curious.
And Dreamer, I have been thinking about giving up some aspects of hygiene, or at least reducing my exposure to it.

To me, the thought of a furry vagina makes me want to pet it, to feel it. Hair can still be smooth.

i see what you mean by all that, but good luck with it. after years of all this for me, it really is programmed. its not even about just doing that for 'others' too. i love being smooth to the point where i'm kinda OCD about it.

In the winter time, I rarely shave my legs. Like right now, they are way past prickly. They're damn fuzzy. I might shave them soon just because it's so luxurious after growing it all out. Like, extra smooth with some winter therapy Olay moisturizer. Mmmmm.
I also haven't had a sex in almost a year (which really doesn't bother me at all) so I don't mind being all furry. I got no one to impress but myself.

See, now that is kind of gross. It's a breeding ground for bugs, bacteria, smells...
Like, when it's that furry, do you shampoo it? Conditioner? Comb?

Once I got through my initial culture-shock, I accepted the woman as a beautiful expression of nature, of Gaia. I could only think of her as something not-entirely-human because of my culturally conditioned mind and I erred on behalf of Soul.
She is a lovely animal. (but we all are, that's the thing)
I tried to envision myself going down on her, and I succeeded, even through my initial revulsion. I would just have to not think about it.

It's not that great to be honest. It's boring and sometimes gross. But, the girls seem to like it. Sometimes you gotta do what you gotta do.

I love armpit hair on women. I mean I really really love it. When I see a chick in a tube top and she has armpit hair, I go crazy. My girlfriend gets jealous because she shaves.
Yes, I am a man. No, I am not gay. Don't listen to all this bullshit.
I am willing to admit that hairless bodies are en vogue right now, but pretending like that is not a social invention is ridiculous. In the early part of the 20th century, female prostitutes wore what were known as "beards," which were basically wigs to make their pubes look longer. Sounds gross huh? Well back then, men paid for hairy beaver.
It's just what is in style right now. I am sure hairy woman and man bodies will come back into vogue eventually, and people will want to puke at the idea of a vagina without any hair on it.

You're crazy. I love going down on women. But in this department i will agree with the general notion that trimmed hair is good if you want someone to go down on you. But going down on a nice, clean girl =

As far as I'm concerned, armpit and leg hair is fine.
I'm a wop, there's no way the chick is furrier than me.
I draw the line at furry 'gina, though.
That's for a very practical reason. Easy cleanup.
I keep my gear shorn, I expect the same.

personally thats my first reaction as well. i have to admit i can-and have- tolerated a little bit of hair here or there "Hairy" is just too much.
Especially on the vagina. Now i understand that you;re not getting laid but cmon...
When your asking him to explain "it" im guessing you mean his reaction. Im going to go out on a limb here and say that he gets laid or at least has an idea of what stimulates him sexually. Therefore, i have reason to believe he reacted this way because he, like most men in todays world, finds hair on women extremely unattractive; sexually speaking.
