fuck yeah! i saw them a like a year and a half ago (it doesn't seem that long ago!) with MGMT right before oracular spectacular was officially released. it was in a tiny local venue. fucking great show. speaking of which, i'll be seeing Dan Deacon when he's in asheville April 6th, and i might quite possibly catch the Vivian Girls the day before at the 506.

Yeasayer kills MGMT, recorded or live...no contest.

I enjoyed Yeasayer a bunch live but not enough to say the MGMT could not outfun my relative experiences.
If you ever get a chance go see King Khan. He is brilliant and awesome and fun and James Brown and Sun Ra's Gang Bang shared Gametes baby.

King Khan live is simply fucking amazing, I suggest catching a show if he and Shrines make it through any of your cities.

Have you had any luck finding this? Haven't been able to find anything myself but I'm intrigued.

nope, not yet. but i should have a source. i heard of the band via a guy i work with who was in the music business for a while. his brother did a lot of production for the band and apparently knows dan deacon rather well (which is what i was talking about when he told me about them). so i figure he should be able to get me something. i'll post it up when/if i can, we'll see if it's worth anything.

 Oxes - Oxxxes
This is one of three albums/EPs I could get. I think it's their second of the three. Haven't listened to it yet, but lemme know if you want the other two.

well fuck yeah jew. where did you find it?
edit: alright, so i gave it its first listen. not sure i can see dan deacon drew much or any inspiration from this, other than being somewhat off-kilter and slightly arrhythmic from time to time. it's straight up instrumental (no synth), and heavy post-punk instrumental at that.
now there are some songs on here that i like (track 4 "chyna, chyna, chyna"; track 8 "russia is HERE") and some that i don't like (track 3 "kaz hayashi '01"). overall, it's a bit more metal than most albums in this thread, but that's not entirely bad. simply put, though i can't see myself fiending for the entire album, it is worth at least a couple of listens.
edit edit: i'm adding track 6 "take & free miami" to the tracklist i like.
