 Walter Meego - Voyager [2008]
dancey and electro-poppish. i recommend "Girls", "Letting Go", and especially "Keyhole" (probably the album's strongest song).

The Rural Alberta Advantage - Hometown
i've heard this band being described as "Neutral Milk Hotel-esque pop with a slight twang". I'd have to agree (especially on "Rush Apart"), and i'd have to say it's a good thing. The frontman's vocals are surprisingly similar to neutral milk's, but i don't think he overplays it, nor does he borrow too much of the style so as to be parasitic of neutral milk's popularity. Throughout the album, the style changes a bit and will lose some of that twang from song to song. overall it's a solid album and enjoyable listen. i'd recommend.
i think "Luciana" would be my favorite song.

 Great Lake Swimmers - Ongiara
I just heard them on Weeds the other day, really nice folk group, kind of Dodos if sang by the Murder By Death singer (before he started that obnoxious Johnny Cash impression or whatever he's doing of late)

I'm not sure if this has been posted but:
Neutral Milk Hotel- Aeroplane Over the Sea
It's amazing.
"The only girl I've ever loved Was born with roses in her eyes But then they buried her alive One evening 1945 With just her sister at her side And only weeks before the guns All came and rained on everyone Now she's a little boy in Spain Playing pianos filled with flames On empty rings around the sun All sing to say my dream has come
But now we must pack up every piece Of the life we used to love Just to keep ourselves At least enough to carry on
And now we ride the circus wheel With your dark brother wrapped in white Says it was good to be alive But now he rides a comet's flame And won't be coming back again The Earth looks better from a star That's right above from where you are He didn't mean to make you cry With sparks that ring and bullets fly On empty rings around your heart The world just screams and falls apart
But now we must pack up every piece Of the life we used to love Just to keep ourselves At least enough to carry on
And here's where your mother sleeps And here is the room where your brothers were born Indentions in the sheets Where their bodies once moved but don't move anymore And it's so sad to see the world agree That they'd rather see their faces fill with flies All when I'd want to keep white roses in their eyes"

Goddamnit the rest of the thread has been very obviously about UPLOADING ALBUMS. Not just randomly discussing songs and shit. Also if you're not sure if it's been discussed FUCKING LOOK. Pay fucking attention or don't fucking bother.

I'm compiling a comprehensive list for that exact reason. Also for easy access.
Okay, so I started working on it in December and took a long hiatus, but tomorrow I plan on knocking out a big chunk of it again.

The beginning of it is in my journal. I just copy and pasted every link and then put it in alphabetical order by band name (I left a few things out, like the rap albums.) I didn't go to each link to see which ones worked and which didn't, I guess I'll leave that up to people to tell me if they try and DL something and it's dead.

A few Portland musicians including The Decemberists, Helio Sequence and The Thermals cover Ellitot Smith songs.
