do it! do it!
i thought about starting a hip-hop album thread actually, but as long as people aren't too anal about it i don't see why at least indie hip-hop couldn't be included in this thread. there just arent really a whole lot of hip-hop fans here at the shroomery. in fact plenty of people here will denounce the entire genre as complete utter garbage

Hieroglyphics - 3rd Eye Visions
This is my favorite hip hop group at their finest. Hieroglyphics consists of Souls of Mischief, Del the Funky Homosapien, Casual, and Pep Love.

People that say that either only hear what MTV spews or are ignorant because it's far from garbage and a lot of it is lyrical genius.
Hip hop is as diverse as rock really. If people don't want to download the albums then that is cool but I do not see why people would get pissed. Indie is a term that umbrellas many genres of music not just rock.
I got a lot of good stuff I can keep it coming if people want it.

yeah man i fully agree with you on the 'indie' terminology; earlier in this thread i was uploading stuff like burial (dubstep) and white rainbow (experimental/ambient), but i was hesitant only because i'm aware that 'indie' can mean two different things to people. The first and most obvious definition of 'indie' is simply "music released on independant labels". right? simple enough. although the word and idea of 'indie' is also often associated specifically with indie ROCK music that captures or induces a particular mood...anywhere starting from Joy Division and The Stooges up through Modest Mouse or Broken Social Scene, ie: jangly distorted riffs for your levi's 501's and monochrome Chuck Taylors.
anyways, i hate labels and classifications in general. other than for convenience's sake, all the sub-genres and sub-categorizing is fairly pointless. Good music is good music.
I'll play and thoroughly enjoy a Moby Grape record, and when that's finished i'll throw on Common's 'Resurrection', so on and so forth. variety is the spice of nice.
oh, and if you have Cannibal Ox's 'Cold Vein' I would greatly appreciate it if you could upload it?

heyyyy cmon now todcasil, you know i didn't have YOU in mind when i made that comment! well i didnt, anyhow.
of course there are also plenty of folks here with open minds who listen to all sorts of tantalizing stuff, absolutely. but i mean shit, i have actually seen entire THREADS in other forums with subjects titled "Why I hate rap music so much"...and then a billion people would chime in bitching about how atrocious or pointless the genre was. everyone is entitled to their own opinion...and so my opinion is that totally trashing an entire genre of ANY style of music is straight up LAME.

I think a hip-hop thread should be separate if people are going to up more than one or two albums.
Anyone listen to the A Place to Bury Strangers album? Input?
I'll upload the Times New Viking album tomorrow.
