Thoughts on our predicament
    #7803088 - 12/27/07 07:27 AM (16 years, 1 month ago)

I wrote this blog on myspace about a year and a half ago, maybe you guys will enjoy it:

What are we? Why are we here? Where are we headed?

I realize in the ultimate sense there are no true answers to these questions, but in the microcosmic scale of our lives and interactions, many of these questions can be answered.

Of course the pattern goes on forever. It spirals into an infinite number of realms, universes, beings, time-waves, and existences. It is the same infinite force, ever stretching, and ever reaching. Our planet merely hangs from a branch stretching back to a tree whose trunk can never be found. It splits through physical, spiritual, everything. Our world is a miraculous fruit, which we are only developing.

We humans grow like plants in a garden. Our plant parts just happen to be veiled ever since our species chose to perfect its mastery of physical existence. Now that we have plunged deep into the physical and taken conscious control of the planet, we have a firm foothold to further develop the spiritual ability of the species.

There was a great change in humanity, when we left jungles and formed cities, when tribes gathered into towns. It was when we stopped foraging and scavenging and began farming and raising livestock. This was the beginning of the decline of the spiritual.

The spiritual was still kept however, only hidden. It was stashed away, lied about, protected and eventually neglected. Our memory of it was so caught up in the terrible aftermath of its existence that we began to forget what the spiritual ever even was. Maybe this was necessary for us to perfect the rational, and mechanical parts of our consciousness that would be necessary to properly integrate the spiritual, to actually learn from it.

We have forgotten about it, or have an image of it so far removed from directly experiencing it that is almost laughable. So it is that the veil begins to fall away.

There was never an individual. We have all always been as one.

Some of our minds begin to grasp the collective. If our species has always just functioned as a macrocosmic organism, what is our planet but just that? A wonderful, self-perfecting organism, and we are its most perfect parts. We begin to understand that maybe in our rash pursuit of the physical, we are harming the collective organism.

So begins another bifurcation, another major split of the great human tree. We have taken what we needed from the mechanical culture, and used it to our advantage. Our rational, knowledgeable, and often cynical and very skeptical minds are doing something very interesting when faced with the overwhelming reality of a hidden dimension of consciousness. We are brining its lessons into the world.

We live in a time when the history of the entire world is effortlessly available to us, so we can watch the elusive patterns emerge. We can step beyond the threshold of physical perception and realize that the space we inhabit is the same space inhabited by ancient shamans. It is the same space written about a thousand times over in every ancient culture. It is the home of angels, demons, ghosts, elves, and every mythological creature imaginable. It is the root of every religion, and it is the distant memory of modern culture.

It is the elusive state of mind at the end of all paths. Any path is the path of our evolution.

This modern, mechanical culture is like a suspenseful seventh chord before the inevitable return to the home key. It's that part of the song that doesn't quite fit, but makes the return to the normal part more driven and powerful.

_______________________________________________________________
It is a very tense time in history. The realms and spaces our species hasn't seen since its infancy are racing back to its consciousness. This has a dramatic effect on the unprepared. Think all the people tormented by schizophrenia, deeply frightened by bad trips, or terrified by psychological problems. Think of the rash, knee-jerk reactions of both the acid culture and the government during the sixties. Both were dealing heavily with the ramifications of the higher-thought sphere colliding with the modern world. Which it did, hard.

Virtually everything we do as modern humans stems from our subconscious pursuit of this hidden world. The rapid advancement of the media within the last century has provided a comfortable space for people to begin entering the higher mind, at first in a controlled and monitored way. Now it occurs in a genuinely organic structure growing in complexity and deepening the density of its connections. What began as a one way screen is now a full system for creating and consuming written, visual, and audial media.

Watching television and making connections is maintaining the collective human mind. Spending all day online reading and posting blogs and forums is combing through the folds of our collective knowledge. Playing nintendo for hours on end is refining your mind's ability to create and navigate realms of consciousness.

Technology is a mind-expanding substance.

When you use a computer to broaden your understanding of the world or read something interesting, your mind is expanded to what has been called the 'second attention.' The second attention is the level of awareness your mind reaches when it is in the midst of visualizing. When words are read and become images in the mind, perception has broken through a membrane that veils the visual aspects of language, the plant parts of the human animal.

The internet and mass media is humanity's break through to the second attention. It is the collective visualization of the group mind. What lies before us is the doorway to the spiritual dimension.
