my sink is clogged as shit. drano wouldn't even go down (took ~10min to seep into drain).
its so clogged, when i was supposed to rinse with hot water after 15min, i couldn't even get the water hot before the sink was half-full again.
hahahahahahahah it's hilarious. i am truly pathetic.
edit: oh yeah, so my question - how do i fix this?

Got a plunger?
Plunge the drain. If that doesn't work then yeah you're gonna need the snake.

Yea.
Do you have a garbage disposal? If so, is it not working?
I have one in my sink and find that whenever it gets clogged and doesn't work, causing water to back up.. it's usually a beer cap stuck in there. Then I have to really jam my hands down in there and dig for it... always makes me paranoid.

One time when my buddy was digging around in the garbage disposal, I kinda snuck up on him and made a really loud grinding sound... it was the funniest fucking thing ever.

Bathroom sink? Pull out the huge knot of hair and slime from under the stopper maybe.

Look under your sink. You will see a sideways S-shaped PVC pipe. That is your trap. Open that up and empty it/clean it. Also, could your drainage pipe be frozen?

Another option that I recently discovered that works great when you can't take the drain trap out or effectively clean it by hand, like certain showers for instance: baking soda and vinegar.
Pack the drain full with as much baking soda as will fit (if it's a large drain opening like a kitchen sink, don't use too much) then pour white vinegar down slowly enough that most of the reaction stays in the drain. Once you've poured enough vinegar through that it's pretty much done reacting, wait for any fizzing sound to stop then run the hottest water possible down the drain for 3 or 4 minutes.
