ID Request, Oyster Mushroom?
    #7802040 - 12/26/07 08:56 PM (16 years, 1 month ago)

ID CONFIRMATION REQUESTED, BATCH #1

^ oyster babies?

ID CONFIRMATION REQUESTED, BATCH #2

Habitat: Woods Batch #1 - on top of a stump, Batch #2 - on the side of a dead log (both dead wood)

Gills: off-white, thick, varying distance from stalk

Stem: very short when present, off-white

Cap: white to gray, 2"-8"

Location: Southeastern Virginia

Date: 20 December 2007

I did not collect any samples, so I wasn't able to create a spore print or look for bruising. Hopefully the pictures provided will suffice.

Thanks for any help.

Yes, oysters. Babies?-probably, but can't tell for sure. That's a nice find this time of year. Go back and get those suckers, they're tasty. The younger the better, and don't eat the stems.
Peace!!!

Yeah, I'd reccommend sending those to cactu immediately. You could save a hungry shroomer!

why? i eat the stem? in a separate way , are used as subtitude of octopus here in vegetarian coctails , are more harder , but that is exaclty what i love the elstic and hard consistency, , reall good in soups, slice in fine pieces or thin slices. humm
never eat ceviche of pleurotus i don´t know how to say ceviche in english o by the way do you eat ceviche is plain something could be fish cook with lemon juice or with the juice of the lemon ,
ceviche de pleurotus huumm...

I just figured he'd probably like the fruitbodies better, although as cactu said, you deffineitly can eat the stems. Soups you say, I'll have to try that.

Like I said, Cactu will recycle your oysters!
