Question about dark rye flour

So I did a post search last night, and my question wasn't really satisfied. Do you need to let dark rye flour soak, so that the endospores Will germinate(before pcing), or is this only with whole rye grains? I was thinking of trying it for cakes. I've heard from some that it works quite well.
Also curious about rice bran. I read RR suggesting it as a substitute for brf. I was curious if you needed to use a different h2o measurement, or if it would be the same as brf. It seems to be a different texture and oil content.

I think any endospores present will germinate in water.
Never heard of someone using rye flour though, let us know how it goes!

I don't know. But, from what little knowledge I do have, I would say that you can probably skip the soak, as that is for the whole grains. However, you will need to PC these jars, as simple boiling will not adequately sterilize your rye flour sub.
Second to last post.

Follow the pf tek for any flour. I have used brf, rye berries, rye grass seed and wbs. No soaking required. Make your own blend.
I have also used horse poo water. the contam rate was high.
Edit: I always use a PC. I have a better success rate than boiling.

for flour you dont need to soak , and if you want to substitute brf with anything else like wbs flour or rye flour ( which was done several times before) , you need to pc them since they have more endospores . Read before RR advising ppl to use rice bran if they don't have a pc (as a substitute to brf) Peace

Yeah, I was thinking of doing a mixture of rice bran and dark rye, or brf and dark rye. My theory being that the more varied the nutrient sources, the more balanced the diet, the better the flushes. Oh, and yeah, I'm gonna pc it.

Dark Rye flour is very good and comparable to Brown Rice flour. Will work wonders!

What ever you do, dont use white flour.
Rye flour works, pretty much as good as BRF.
But they do need pressure cooking due to endospores.
