I am absolutely fed up with firefox2. I tried the version 3 beta and the memory leaks were even worse.
I cannot take it any more.. I'll watch a video on youtube and 2 mins in and its eating up 360MB of ram (I only have 396MB in this laptop). The memory leaks are just rediculous.
There must be a better browser out there; I'd even revert back to IE if it its memory footprint is smaller than that of firefox.

Firefox 3b2 hasn't gone above 60MB (~12% memory consumption on the desktop it was tested on), but this is only my personal experience with the software.
If small memory footprint is what you want, I'd personally recommend Opera.

I've used Netscape for years and never had issues. I prefer version 7.2 if you can find it in their archives. I absolutely despise IE and would sooner turn of my internet connection then run it!

I think I know how to fix your problem as I had bad memory leaks as well. Go to the firefox mainpage and follow the instructions for fully removing firefox. Make sure you delete all the files it tells you to, then re-download and install firefox. Should work sans memory leaks

If all else fails, I would like to recommend Opera; has never done me wrong!

Firefox 3 has over 300 memory leaks fixed... Uninstall your firefox, and reinstall it

IMHO opinion opera is the best browser around, BUT it has problems dealing with flash on linux. On windows it has problems of being too awesome.
