It's their playground, if you don't show them respect, they can kick you out of it. With or without reason. Membership is a privilege.

Hi, I have an automotive question. I was going to post a thread but I saw this one. Can anyone help me identify what this check light means. It's the one on the far right in the pic. Sorry for the poor quality.

93 I think the point of the matter is that others wont get screwed if shady dealings with a company are brought out in the open. I feel that a long amount of time should be given to resolve an issue, but there comes a point where it becomes obvious that it's not gonna happen. In this case, I feel it should become public knowledge. Many companies stay in buisness not because they make quality parts or do good work, but because they are good at marketing and information about their shadyness is'nt widely available. Being an aircooled vw and auto enthusiast in general, I am quite familiar with this and have voiced my opinions on a certain company before, but only when it became obvious that our issue would'nt be resolved. As for you getting banned, that should have happened only if your behavior was noted as prohibited in their stated forum rules section. Even then, they could have merely deleted the thread instead of banning you outright, unless you have demonstrated consistent behavior contrary to the forum rules in the past. Out of curiosity, what kinda whip ya got? 93 93/93

Nonetheless it isnt your right to be able to talk trash about that company on their website. You have every right to file a complaint with the BBB or come to another website and talk trash. But why would any administrator sit back and not ban someone who is discussing unethical business practices while posting on their forum?

93 One can post whatever (s)he wants as long as it does'nt conflict with forum rules. Even so, a warning should be given before an outright banning. On some auto forums I attend, documented company bashing is encouraged, while on others it's vehemently discouraged. I ca'nt speak for the op in this respect as I am unaware of the forum in question. 93 93/93

You are right, one can post whatever they want. However they should be prepared to face the consequences. And im sure there is a clause somewhere in the user agreement that states that membership can be revoked at anytime and that the forum/ business has the right to protect themselves from anyone who is posting in attempt to defame the business.
I dont know the individual situation either. But I have helped create several web forums and know that every single one I have built has had some kind of clause that allows the site administrator to ban whoever they want, whenever they want. As they should, they are the ones paying the bills after all.

Free speech doesn't apply to a private forum. They can do whatever they want to censor you.
