noob question about germination time

first off, this is my first post, i believe. i've a long time lurker. second, this is not my first time, i've had moderate success in the past.
should i be worried?
i inoculated five days ago and i am not seeing any growth at all. no contamination either...
what i did: using a slightly modified PF tek for the growth media, i used a purchased print to make a new syringe. following all instructions for sanitary method, i inoculated the cakes and they have been sitting at about 75F for the five days.
like i said, no mycelium can be seen on any of them.
thanks!

ok, that is what i was thinking. its been a while since i cooked some up, so i have forgotten the time frames.
also, forgot to mention that this is the PF strain, if that makes a difference.

Yup, just wait a little longer. The strain doesn't make a significant difference. What size are your jars and how much spore solution went into each?

the jars are the wide mouth half-pints. i used about half a CC in each jar, but the solution was purple with spores, so i know they each got plenty. it was a MUCH better syringe than the one i got in the mail along with the print.

After you made the syringe did you wait at least 24h for the spores to hydrate?...

Didn't see that ....But I guess it was coincidence that the first time I did and did not wait my cakes never germinated But who knows ...So I always wait doesn't hurt I guess...
But just wait a little more they will colonize, one of my cakes took about 2 weeks for me to see some sign and that cake is the one that is producing far more than the others...

A dark spore syringe is not necessarily a good thing, the more spores, the more substrains the more chance that some germinated substrains are not going to form into 1 strain.

i didn't realize that there might be more substrains, being that the print came from a single mushroom.
also, its been eight days now and still no sign. should i be worried NOW?

Every two spores will mate to make an individual unit of mycelium each with it's own genetic makeup. Then, all the compatible ones will fuse when they meet and keep on spreading.
Using lots of spores increases the chance of non compatible substrains appearing which will not merge together, meaning you will have two mycelial networks competing for the same substrate.

well, hell... i thought they were just all clone spores and that they would be happy with each other. very interesting.
as an update, still no signs of life, and i mean none at all, at eleven days. i really can't remember it taking this long for something to show on the cakes.

well, its been two and a half weeks. no sign of anything going on. starting over this week. the upshot is that i have no contamination, either.
