can i have some opinions, how important is it to have your flowhood build into the wall in small lab? and if it is built into the wall should it be sucking air from the antechamber? thanks

For home use, just use a laminar flowhood sitting on a table in a small, closed up room. RR

ok, because ive been seeing alot of labs that have them built into the wall rather that just on a table, i was just wondering efficency of hygeine when doing this.
whats your contam rate at about RR?
do you sterilize your contamed jars then clean them or just throw them out? thanks

When handling bad jars, get far away from your "lab" to get rid of them. Should boil the bad jars to kill the contam just for the hell of it... The War on Contaminations, if they waste your time and money, kill'em!

not trying to jack your thread but I wanted to ask Roger a question because I think we have the same flowhood (series 1 from fungi perfecti) the hood came recently and at the top corners on both outer sides there are small gaps where air flows out. There's a gasket over the hepa so the air blowing out is sterile but the air coming from the gaps is probably not should I just seal the gaps with silicone? I think if the air isn't flowing from the outside corners then it can't go anywhere else but through the filter. The flow is still awesome though bends a flame almost 90 degrees without blowing it out maybe an obvious question but I have no experience with hoods

100% of the air should be flowing from the filter, not around the edges of it. Are you speaking of leakage around where the blower flange is attached to the box? If so, make a foam gasket or use caulk. If it's leaking from the edges of the filter, it's not filtered air, so needs to be fixed. RR

nope the blower is perfectly sealed, i'm talking about the ~1" wide peices that are screwed horizontally on to the face of the flowhood at the top and bottom, the middle (vertical) pieces are sealed to the cabinet but the top peice has gaps. the foam strips around the filter seemed to be in line where the pieces meet so that's why I thought the air might not be getting filtered I think i'll try to screw it on correctly and seal the gaps without using silicone unless I have to
