Chicken of the Wood. Yumm
    #7793330 - 12/23/07 05:47 PM (16 years, 1 month ago)

I was out hunting one day looking for some shaggy manes when I came across an aged chicken of the wood and a rather large boletus patch. Nothing I was willing to take with me.

But I came across an interesting looking pair of mushrooms, and a large patch that was too old for me to recognize. Anyone have a clue?

The pair of mushrooms look similar to Chlorophyllum rachodes to me. The others look pretty far gone.

Happy mushrooming!

I see tons and tons of the mushrooms in the first 2 pictures in Idaho during summer. I dont remember if anyone replied. "chicken of the woods"?

It's just like the story of the grasshopper and the octopus.
All year long, the grasshopper kept burying acorns for winter, while the
octopus mooched off his girlfriend and watched TV.
But then the winter came, and the grasshopper died, and the octopus ate all his acorns.
Also he got a race car.
Is any of this getting through to you?
