Networking PCs and Macs
    #7793227 - 12/23/07 05:09 PM (16 years, 1 month ago)

So I've had this one PC running windows xp since about 2001 and it's holding up pretty well for me so far. But I recently bought a macbook for doing other stuff (mostly music related) and I would like to be able to connect wirelessly with it. The PC has a wired DSL connection.

Anyway, I just got this router. It's the Belkin N Wireless Router. I just wanted to see if I could get some advice before busting into it and then getting a hard time about returning it. It says that it's compatible with both windows and mac but I don't know if that means one or the other and not both.

Should I be able to use this for networking my mac to my pc? And should there be any problems with me having the mac in my basement and the pc in the main part of the house? The range seems pretty good. It says up to 1200 feet.

Thanks for any help you guys can give me!

 i have a belkin wireless N1 router, and yes, you can network them both without any problems. if there do happen to be problems, it will be with the router itself. i had a few problems in the beginning, though they've stopped. i think belkin had an update or something.

good luck and congratz on the mac. i hope to be getting one soon.

Well, I'm typing this from the Mac now so that means I'm online already and everything went well.

I actually can't believe how easy that was. I guess it was a good router that I got.
