Sick chicken!!!!!

So, as you may or may not know.. we're raising 4 chickens, free range in our yard.
They are Australorp variety, 3 of them have grown fantastically well adjusted to humans, and seem healthy (even in the snow, with no heat lamp...)
1 However, has always been a runt. She is less aggressive towards eating, and will often give up her food (say a grape or strawberry thown to her) to one of the more aggressive chickens. Even if she's alone, she's less aggressive... She's very skinny, and withdrawn from the bunch - The most concerning though, is her feathers.. Much of the feather has fallen off the cartiledge and she just has white cartiledge *feathers* around her neck, and her other feathers look gross and sickly....
We are not in a position to take her to a vet... My roommate wants to nurse her to health inside, but we are opposed. Id like to find out more about possible illnesses before we take any actions..
Any ideas?

i had 12 chickens for several years, and it sounds like to me that its just the runt of the pack and shes letting the rest of them beat up on her. the missing feathers are almost definately from aggression of the others, not disease.
honestly, there isnt much you can do by the sounds of it. either she toughens up, or shell be the punching bag of the group until she dies. doesnt sound like any illness to me.

Maybe isolate her, and make her accomplish easy tasks to get food, maybe this could boost her confidence?

Yeah separation from the rest of the chickens may be the best thing. If this continues then it's probably illness.

She eats, just not aggressively like the others, and loses out in most situations, to the other chickens.

cull that hen, if it is an ill bird you dont want the others getting it if it's not sick and just weak then it's traits you dont want to be passing on to it's offspring in the future
