Smoking gun number 211,586,001:
Quote:
Angry congressional Democrats demanded Friday that the Justice Department investigate why the CIA destroyed videotapes of the interrogation of two terrorism suspects.
Meantime Friday, the former chairman of the 9/11 Commission, Thomas Kean, told WNBC's Jonathan Dienst that the CIA’s destruction of the videotapes hampered the panel’s investigation into the terrorist attacks on New York and Washington.
The Senate's No. 2 Democrat, Dick Durbin of Illinois, called on Attorney General Michael Mukasey to find out "whether CIA officials who destroyed these videotapes and withheld information about their existence from official proceedings violated the law."
Sen. Edward Kennedy, D-Mass., accused the CIA of a cover-up. "We haven't seen anything like this since the 18 1/2-minute gap in the tapes of President Richard Nixon," he said in a Senate floor speech.

on a related note, I was thinking about how all these dissatisfied Americans post and talk about how the government is all a ruse, how independent scrutiny of government by panels such as the 9/11 commission is a myth, and such
Interesting to see stuff such as the 9/11 commission and the second JFK commission where the government fights the commission at every step, and never cooperates. Yet the same folks will claim all these commissions are shills, despite their publicized beefs w/ the govnt
Guess that's just more show to keep the folks at home believing there's no battle for truth in our government, right? I just wonder how they answer to these developments.

Oh yeah, we all know there's no one good working in government.

There's always a few good people in every government. Too bad they have to compete against the corporate whores, those with troubled pasts the lobbies can blackmail them over, so they become a stooge, a scapegoat to do the dirty work, and take the blame.
