A little touble, or not. (pictures/update)
    #7788339 - 12/22/07 09:28 AM (16 years, 1 month ago)

Yesterday i picked my first ever flush and set it on a rack for 6 hours with a heated fan blowing on it to dry them (100-140ish degrees fluctuating). After that i really needed to catch some sleep soo they seemed pretty dry and i threw them in my desiccant chamber.

Nevertheless, this morning they had distributed there moisture and turns a little more blueish (they weren't THAT blue to begin with).

How do you think they are?

If the shrooms appear to be turning blue too fast it may be that there is too much moisture in the drying area. Once I took a year off growing and made a dumb mistake when I started again. I placed freshly harvested mushrooms directly into my DampRid/Tupperware dehumidifier. In about 2 days they looked like they had been soaked in Smurf juice! I put a fan on them and in about a day the problem was corrected. They were still pretty potent too.

You weren't messing with the mushrooms a lot were you? I bruised the hell out of some of the first mushrooms I picked and dried and it turned some pretty funky blues.

You th0ought those were dry. Did one of them snap like a cracker when you tested them? Of wait, you didnt test them. Well you get what you get.
They take no less then 24 hours to dry.

Me personally, I just lay a boxfan face down with a book in each
corner, to elevate it off the ground an inch or two. Place a screen,
such as one from a window over it. Laying the mushies on top.
On the lowest speed setting, 12-16 hours* to be dry crackers.

( *depending on the size of the mushies )

He didn't say he thought they were dry, he said he thought they were dry enough to put in the desiccant chamber to bring to cracker dry.

It does the job, and I for one, for example can get my hands on desiccant easily but there is not a food dehydrator available anywhere.

I'll have to get one of you yanks to send me one.
