And It Stalled

I have one cake left that is like 99% colonized, but just won't colonize the very bottom of the jar. It's myc pissing like a mother fucker.
Would it be ok to just cut the uncolonized parts off in a glove box?
What are your thoughts?

crumble it in a new baggie, let it sit over night then make a small casing out of it the next day. IMO atleast.

flip it and knock it c'mon brah..
flip it upside down and knock it down in your hand.. gives it some room to breathe/colonize. some people say that it increases the risk of contams, but not in my experience..
i swear by it.. you pretty much have to with some cakes to get them to fully colonize..

Seems like that'd just be asking for contams?

Well I havn't had any problems with it yet, I mean how big is this "small" spot you're talking about?
If you put it into a brand new ziplock (they are steril fresh out the box) and then crumble the cake well and let it sit, your giving the myc a chance to get ahold of the stuff that wasn't colonized.
Just a suggestion

ya that's pretty much just casing it..
it really depends what you are gonna do with it.. if you are gonna leave it as a cake or whatever..
if you are spawning it then do what he said cuz it doesn't really matter that much if it's 100%..

About 1/4" of the bottom of the cake is uncolonized. I think I'm just going to spawn to hpoo/straw/verm.

Make sure that spot isn't contaminated before you spawn or you risk having to throw the whole thing away.

God I wish I had my camera, my niece borrowed it. The bottom of the jar is filled with yellowish looking stuff (myc piss). I'm going to try flipping the cake and tapping on the bottom. Let it colonize for a few more days.
It doesn't look contamed though Nibin.

Yea a 1/4 inch of the bottom is abit more that i was thinking aswell. I'd suggest trying what Drkrobot suggested and flip it and give it more time.

Mycelial metabolites are not urine. They're antibiotic and much more like medicine than pee. In fact, they also help to break down the substrate for the mycelium, much like the saliva in our mouth(which is also not urine) helps break down our food. RR

Thanks for the reply RR, that is good to know. And as an update, I took drkrobotniks advice and the jars seem to be moving along again. I also lowered the temp in my incubator to 79 degrees. It was set at 86.
I think this might help some, because mycelium is like 5 degrees above the set temp right?
