Ever rear-ended someone and have them clain injuries?
    #7786290 - 12/21/07 04:57 PM (16 years, 1 month ago)

I rear-ended someone earlier this month. It wasn't too bad of a hit but it wasn't a little fender bender either. (Both cars can run) They told the police they were ok and one passenger even asked for permission to leave early because she was late for work while he was filling out the report. Now, they are claiming injuries and have hired an attorney. Has anyone ever been in this situation?

Not personally but it happens all the time. I don't see why you're surprised about this at all.

Get a good personal injury attorney. What state do you live in? Do you have car insurance?

you wont be fucked, your insurance company will be

it doesnt matter that they left the accident scene early man

injuries like neck and back can start going stiff an hour later

I've rear-ended people twice. And neither time did they claim injuries. Of course they would have had a difficult time doing so because they didn't get my information, by their own choice. Well, actually, the first time the guy may have gotten my information I don't remember, but his jackass self caused the accident to begin with. He was just pissed off that I tailgated him for a mile or so on the interstate and then continued to do so for another block or so after exiting the interstate, so he slammed on his brakes on purpose to cause me to rear-end him. He refused to give me his information, so I copied his tag number and he proceeded to drive off claiming he was going to a pay phone to call the police. I don't believe he ever did. I never reported it either and that was the last I heard of the incident. It dented my vehicle up a bit, bent my grill guard out of shape, and smashed my grill. I wound up replacing the grill with one from a junk yard and taking the grill guard off. However one of the mounting brackets for the grill guard simply wouldn't come off.

The second time some idiot sat through a green light in the left turn lane. I was expecting him to turn because the oncoming traffic was clear. The light was about to change so I sped up planning to turn behind him. He didn't go so I wound up skidding into the back of him at an angle. This is important because I still had part of the grill guard bracket on my front bumper which had I hit the guy straight on would have poked a hole right into his plastic bumper. From a cursory inspection we decided that no damage had been done to his car and to not report the incident to police. He went his way and i went mine without exchanging information.

I however regret not filing a personal injury lawsuit when my next car was totaled because I ultimately got royally screwed on the whole deal. If I'd followed up on the physical therapy I'd had done I probably could have gotten a few thousand dollars out of the deal.

that first one was partially your fault morally, and most likely totally your fault legally- would have been in my state
