i think what he's saying is that the shamans didn't smoke it they used it sublingually, but that doesn't mean it's not meant to be smoked.

My true answer would be that it works, it is very intense, but it sucks. I tried it a few times to make sure, and yes, it sucks. Smoking it just makes me want it to be done and over with. It was what I imagine standing in front of a leaf fire while huffing a spray can would be like. But, it works. You'll be "out there" for a brief bit if that is what you are looking for. Is it introspective? It can split your ego into perceiver and actor, which is annoying... It can take you back to exactly how you felt one afternoon at 10:29 in 3rd grade. But, it's so very uncomfortable to get there and back. Personally, I don't like it.

Didn't you guys learn anything from Lucy?
Just kidding..but really I think it can be considered an entheogen. For me, it's learning to let go, and know that things will be alright. When you're on level 5, worlds away, and your geometric-looking arm is fusing with the side of a door--learn to let go and know reality will always be there.
Let it go.
I just read that on salvia, and yeah, geaomtrical shit is happening , like my lips are being pulled into that sentence :P WOW crazyness...
Yeah i like salvia, but i hate the feeling of being pulled in random directions on different parts of my body.

the salvia entity is the most predominant aspect of the experience for me the trip is always just the salvia entity "she" often glares at me with an air of disdain sometimes kids with me like trying to "cover me up" by merging the information of my body and mind with something else once my roommate mentioned that he thought the sound vibrations coming from the speakers outward (several feet away) were actually the back of his head i can relate
after I come down i'm often astonished that I am alone
when I come up I am astonished at how fucking serious it is. sometimes its like the salvia keeps saying 'how dare you burn me? how dare you?' all with attitude though, not in words.
sometimes she layers reality onto me deliciously and lovingly
when the trip ends, it is not just that the trip is over, or has faded out of memory. what has happened is beyond what I even can suppose.

Nature Boy said: Salvia is some scary shit. I've tried it in every reasonable dosage from trivial to moderate, always with careful and thorough mental preparation, and now that I've done it at each level a handful of times, ONLY with trepidation.
Overall, not a particularly pleasant experience. The sudden and extreme departure from normal sensorium into the salvia head space is very unsettling. VERY different from any other substance I've ever used. The only "positive" is that it is over in a matter of minutes in real time, which can seem like an eternity with the time dilation it is capable of producing.
A sober sitter is STRONGLY recommended. Sitting or lying down should be considered mandatory. A fairly dark, quiet, and secure setting will help minimize panic/paranoia. You may very well be utterly unaware you've done a drug (or who you are, for that matter) and will likely wonder if you'll ever come back to any semblance of normalcy. That's where your trip sitter comes in, to remind/reassure you that you WILL be back, and to trust your "wetware."
NOT a party drug in the least. No insights, just hallucinations of the highest, wildest order. Someone once said (of the Universe, not salvia, but it fits) "It is not just stranger than you imagine, it is stranger than you CAN imagine."
My $.02 N.B.
I agree about 98%. Salvia is a very strange, almost always uncomfortable experience for me. However, i continue to use it because i do find it useful in a few ways. I agree that the average user will not experience will not come to any particular insites or revelations with salvia use, though a well prepared and open minded tripper can. Salvia will not so much as "open your mind" like shrooms or acid, as it will strait up confront you with thing you may not like to think about.

I like to mix the Salvia with Wild Dagga and Blue Lily of the Nile. It make a vary nice smoke blend. I find it makes the Salvia more enjoyable. Try it.

That is a great answer 04281969. After the first time I smoked it I said to myself "holy shit what the hell was that". I think there is some benefits to be found in it, but I'm still searching for clear cut guidelines about usage. For example the shamans have used it for centuries for healing we know, yet I've seen nothing so far about the specifics of the rituals. On top of that you get the usual jargon about how you should smoke it or shouldn't, or no you need to chew it to show respect to the salvia plant yada yada yada, yes you can vaporize it, no you can't, and you add all the different belief systems into the mix with entities, becoming part of walls, concepts of reality, spirit guides etc..etc.. The only thing I'm sure of is "it doesn't inhibit ones imagination". Anyway thanks for your clear cut honest answer.

What are the preportions of each item that you recommend? Adding a Salvia buffer sounds good.

25% Wild Dagga 25% Blue lily and 50% Salvia. Taste and smells so nice. Vary mellow smoke.
