Tattoo said: Has anyone else experienced a hallucination as profound as I have? I feel sort of alone in this.
You are definitely NOT alone, bro.
One summer afternoon (which coincidentally happened the same day as an airshow in our area) I took a couple of hits in my bedroom. A C-150 or similar multi-engine cargo plane picked that moment to fly over my house. As the doppler shifted engine-sound passed by (you know, the drop in frquency and volume as a plane, car or train passes) everything in my field of view began to smear and swirl in a counterclockwise direction as if it were preparing to go down some invisible drain somewhere directly in front of me.
As the plane passed over, the top of the swirl which was comprised of my smeared and spinning bedroom got dragged off to the left from the 12:00 position as if it were suddenly tethered to the tail of the plane, slowly drawing my visual reality into a gradually lengthening comma and unrolling/unraveling my room, furniture, wall, rug, etc... and dragging it off to my left, out of my view.
When you are unaware that this has occurred from the self-administration of a drug, this is pretty frightening and fucked-up stuff. No amount of mental preparation will help you keep your composure when shit like this happens AND you are unaware/have forgotten that it is a drug effect that will wear off. I've never been able to take the message with me into the salvia headspace that I've just done a drug. I almost never remember my name or anything about myself until I'm back. This, on very good 10X. This is why I VERY strongly suggest a sober trip sitter.
Be well. N.B.

Hi, Landlord75:
I wish there was some mental technique that would help me carry the recollection or knowledge that Lady S was responsible for the shift in sensorium - that way I might be better able to cope with some of the surprising, unpredictable, and utterly strange visions she is capable of producing. Lord knows I've tried meditating and concentrating on that "message" to bring it with me, but it invariably (at least up until now) gets obliterated along with my ego.
Being unable to carry that awareness across the shift in perspective is the number one reason I am reluctant to re-visit this (still legal in my state) entheogen. For better or worse, I seem to be particularly sensitive to Salvinorin A (and acid, too, but it has been >30 years since I last did that), so I need to tread VERY lightly with Salvia which is smoked or vaporized. Maybe someday I'll try the classic quid with plain leaf and see what that is like.
Best regards, N.B.

I experienced ego-death and all sorts of issues with the ego, very insightful and terrifyingly frightening at times. Trip sitter is highly recommended, having bonged it alone and later with a sitter, too.

Anything can be a tool... depends on how you look at it.
My empty soda can could be a tool to teach me something of myself.
Didn't you guys learn anything from Lucy?
Just kidding..but really I think it can be considered an entheogen. For me, it's learning to let go, and know that things will be alright. When you're on level 5, worlds away, and your geometric-looking arm is fusing with the side of a door--learn to let go and know reality will always be there.
Let it go.

Salvia is useful but IMHO in no way enjoyable.
It just physically feels shitty.

Its a fun trip.
It goes by too fast for me to have to deal with my personal demons etc.. because of this I enjoy it.

salvia was a bit unpleasant, my first trip was real disorienting, i felt like i was walking down a series of zig zags, and i sweated like crazy too.
i would try it again with a stronger extract just to have a full blown trip, but its definately not something to get "high" off of and its not a party type substance

I had a Salvia trip where I felt like me and everyone else was part of this universal quilt, and the quilt was being unzipped in a zigzag direction, back and forth. It was... interesting? =x

There is no poll option for what my experience was with it.
It's the most powerful hallucinogen I've tried out of Cannabis, MDMA, Mushrooms, and LSD. Especially by weight. On 7g dried of mushrooms, I would probably still recognize my own name if someone called it enough. The same can't be said for a breakthrough on a 1/8g 20x hit of salvia for me. I don't get any real insight from the experience, it honestly just scares the hell out of me so bad that I have a new found appreciation for life & "normal reality". I guess in some ways the trip can metaphorically show you how useless having a negative attitude/lying/deceiving/etc. is, and how it can lead to your own personal hell. However, I had already had a mushroom trip with the same "theme" before I ever tried salvia.
I prefer mushrooms over salvia because the effects seem "less ancient". On a mushroom peak I feel like I'm communicating with old spirits, & relating to them. On salvia, I just feel like I'm becoming "one with matter". There's nothing "dreamy" about salvia.
another weird little thought I had: Mushrooms seem to bring me to thoughts of a SPIRIT creating all things (even quantum mechanics, etc...), whereas salvia argues, and tells me that the PHYSICS is what was responsible for the spirit/consciousness/whatevah. I know I'm kinda wording this in a bad way, as it's not like hallucinogens actually tell you things, or force you what to think. I'm just saying the two types of trips influence me to think different things about the source of life.

Salvia has changed my life. I've written down all my trips in a notebook, every time I've broken through I've had an incredible experience that I still carry with me today. I don't have that notebook with me right now, it's at my Dad's house, but the last trip I took two nights ago I wrote on my computer (excuse the poor grammar and articulation, I was describing it to a friend on the phone while typing it to a friend online right after the come down). A little background though, I smoke Salvia to gain insight and learn a lesson from it. I will not do it at college, only when I'm home, in my bedroom. I turn off all the lights and all electronics except for a lamp next to my bed. I burn incense, and have no noise at all. I lay on my bed, smoke three to four hits (depending when I feel the initial buzz, I take one more hit to put me over the threshold), then turn the light off and close my eyes and off I go. Anyway:
preface: smoked three hits of 10x out of my pipe, all lights and everything off in my room and laying on my bed with incense i made sure not to be thinking about anything before smoking it because i hate starting a trip going "am i tripping yet? how about now" cause it makes it confusing and shitty so anyway all of a sudden my reality is just being fractured my mouth was splitting into like a flower/hexagon of identical realities and i was totally immersed in it, forgot i had smoked, forgot everything and i started to come back to reality cause i got scared so i started breathing really heavily and i thought that i might die because i forgot to breathe so i was trying to rationalize it and it just made it more confusing and intense so i was like you cant die from salvia just let it go my mouth was splitting, and then i entered one of those realities and i became the furniture in the corner of my room i was my bed, the chair, the wall, everyuthing so i was scared and still gasping for air and i managed to calm myself down again and come ack to reality sort of basically convinced myself i had smoked salvia and id be ok and then all of a sudden the room was back to one dimension and everything was flowing and jelly like everything was a tentacle on the cosmic anemone thats how i could describe it best haha there was a universal flat layer and everything coming up from it was one of the tentacles and outside of this reality was all black, just pure blackness, and there was a force pushing and pulling and making the tentacles wave around basically like in a tank, the infinite (the black) is the water, and reality is the anemone's mass and all real perceived things are tentacles on it and the infinite has a force that makes all the tentacles flow what i experienced was very similar to taoism and during this experience, i got very lonely, because i had wanted to share this experience with someone and i realized theres an innate human desire to share experience with someone, to unify what drives us to have sex is that sex is the ultimate shared experience with a person, you two become one, one with the infinite, the black, the water, and thus is communication with the divine

quite weird experience... different perception that's for sure. all the time could sense someone's else presence while on it and my brain felt like it was cut in a half with 30-40 degrees angle... weird feeling. my cousin told me he's got 60x extract... looking forward to check it out.

Salvia is not meant to be smoked. Thats why most people report bad experiences, you just get a glimpse of terror. You should use the quid method or a sublingual solution.
