i never really broke through with the head shop extracts, just got the light forcefield feelings but one day i tried some dried regular salvia from cali and it blew my world away... i took 2 hits in the bong and held the second in for a long, long time.. well needless to say i was sitting on the couch when i hit the bong and somehow came through and was on the floor with the bong still in my hand laughing and i dont remember geting off the couch... it was like the part on the matrix where everyhing zoomed away into white and the guns came out on racks.. well the couches in the living room did that.. the other couple experiences i had with salvia were very different and frightened me so i havent touched it since.. i dont think it has any recreational value at all..

I absolutely hate the stuff While I've never had what I would consider a bad trip, but salvia was the closest one to it
It's not really a normal psychedelic, which is why erowid classifies it as atypical psychedelic. It's more of a sensory mindfuck than anything else
To me it seems like it has a mischievous nature to it, like when you smoke it someone is laughing at you going "haha you just smoked some bad hallucinogen man" It's like you give yourself up into a complete looney tune world, that isn't just bizzare, but also just feels plain wrong. The trip is not enjoyable at all. Which is why those who like salvia don't even use it to get to the highest levels. Also it makes you sweaty as hell which in itself sucks, but while tripping on salvia can be way worse, which was the case for me. When I smoked it for the first time, I melted into my couch and when I tried to get up the sweatiness compounded the experience and I felt like I was tearing my own flesh out of a part of me (the couch). Then everything folded into an alien looking face with 6 eyes and 2 mouths, one of was ont he side of the face, and I was an eyebrow in that face and thats how I thought I was going to exist forever.
How can I summarize salvia? - Its a fucked up ass random trip and while it does carry some insight with it, the discomfort of the trip is just not worth it to me.

I know what you mean.
I've experimented with Salvia on a few occasions, always approaching it with extreme caution especially after reading mindfuck trip reports. I dabbled with 40x and 10x. The 10x was from an on-line vendor, and the 40x a head shop variety. The 10x was, without a doubt, vastly stronger than the 40. The come up was within seconds of inhalation (bong) usually accomponied with instantaneously giggle fits and then peaking with a bizzare and random halucination.
The hallucinations strike me as very odd. To me, it feels as if the world inside my head and the world outside my head has changed places. What I mean to say is, on a sober mind my internal mind perceives the "real" world. During a salvia trip I never lose touch with the real world no matter how strong it is. But the world inside my head becomes intensely vivid. What I am thinking can be seen very very very clearly (not that I have any control over what I am thinking). As the drug takes hold and the effects peak, the hallucination gets stronger and more vivid.
I often find myself in strange rooms, or in surreal almost magical places. I know I am still physically in my bedroom or wherever I was before I smoked. I can feel I am still there. The experience can be almost entirely mental, aside from the weird body buzz that feels like my body is a wireframe that is constantly moving (if that makes any sense). Other times if I open my eyes everything around me can look mixed up and out of place. Dejavu can be insane. I often feel like I am in another dimension. My god, portals.
I also experience auditory hallucinations. Usually its a simple rhythmic pattern similar in nature to ones before it, but most certainly like a theme track that is looping and expressing sentiments like: "you are going insane, you are going insane, you are going insane, you are going insane" except represented as "evil" sounding, chaotic music.
I did notice with the 40x that the trip was twice as long and the come up much slower. Whereas a small bowl of 10x would send me sky high it would take a tightly packed bowl of 40 to get me to the same level. I had deeper insight with the 40 since the experience was much longer. The wall was covered with what looked like eyes projected and rolling endlessly on a conveyor belt.
I can babble endlessly about Salvia. I've never had a bad trip, but I've never had a comfortable one either. The sentiment that Salvia is mischievous is very accurate to what I've encountered. Its like Salvia plays with your mind but as long as you are careful and respectful of what you ingest, you should be okay.

I am no psychedelic artist (obviously), but I felt compelled to try and recreate one of the most brightly lit and vivid things I saw on my most intense salvia trips.
Basically, I left my body and was in another world entirely. I visualized myself falling backwards through a tunnel and this is what I saw. The box frame on the top right was actually a window frame that was my connection (or portal) to my original world. I fell away from it until it was gone, along side me the entire time was this bizarre yellow brick wall (almost like lego bricks) and on the other side a playground of dancing geometric shapes essentially as the color you see them. I had the impression they were calling me to the other side.
Has anyone else experienced a hallucination as profound as I have? I feel sort of alone in this

Salvia is the fucking craziest shit ever, holy fuck! I remember the first time I actually broke through. My sober mind can't even begin to comprehend what happened in those few minutes I had with Salvia. There was entities there that always try to show you something but it seems you never have enough time to spend with 'em.

this doesn't get said enough, or at least doesn't get practiced enough, but every time i've talked to someone that hasn't been able to break through they used a bic style lighter.
USE A BUTANE TORCH!!!
i used all caps so everyone knows i'm serious. A butane torch is much more effective. I'm not saying you can't get there using a traditional flame lighter, i'm just saying it's much easier to get there with a torch. If you don't believe me fucking try it.
i was sucked down through a tunnel that opened up in the body of my bed and wandered around in a garden of pulsating geometric shapes growing from the ground like giant flowers towering over my head, except the flowers were alive and were watching me with an air of disdain.

I've only tried 10x and 20x and I don't really enjoy it. I remember my last Salvia experience: I smoked a bowl's worth, then stumbled over to my bed and lied down, where I proceeded to sense two entities; one on my left and one on my right. I distinctly felt a female presence and a male, but couldn't differentiate between the two. Aside from the common physical aspects (skin crawling, heavy body, etc), that was the only 'hallucinatory' effect I experienced. Maybe I should've experienced the real stuff rather than extract, but oh well.

Salvia just reminds me that I need to take shrooms again (its been 4 yrs, currently have some about to fruit) Salvia just doesn't last long enough for me to gain any insight. There are crazy hallucinations but not enough time to really explore them. I think the craziest thing of all is the invisible entity that stands to the right of me as the salvia takes effect, its like he/she is mocking me and their presence is so real!

i'm not saying bics don't work, i'm just saying torches more effectively, if you've never tried it with a torch it definitely gets you more mileage.

If you don't have a shaman mindset, you may get nothing from salvia but fear.

You're not alone, All the high level salvia trips are around the same level.
What happened to me on my trip was I melted into the couch, and tried to get up and when I did this, the sweatiness on my back combined with the hallucination made it feel like I was tearing a chunk of myself (my body) out of myself (the couch). Then once I got up the whole world peeled off starting from the corner of my left eye and made a sort of arching motion, while it was doing that I saw lot of images of my life, both past and future, however there were so many and it was so fast that I couldn't make any of them out except for the first one, it was like a lightspeed information download to my brain, however when I come across those images in real life I immediately remember them. When the images stopped the world folded into an alien like face, it had 6 eyes and 2 mouths, one of which was on the side, and no hair or ears, but it did have eyebrows. I was an eyebrow in that face, whenever I tried to move, it would be the eyebrow moving in that face. Nothing else existed besides that face, and I forgot that I was even human before this, I thought that that's how reality always was and always will be - nothing but a giant alien face with me as its eyebrow.
Also I remember having auditory hallucinations as well, but not during the main part of the trip, It was like a young child laughing, probably that more than anything was what made me think of salvia as having a mischievous nature
