Magic shrooms get man arrested December 21, 2007 - wyomingnews.com
CHEYENNE - A local man was arrested Thursday for possession of nine pounds of psilocybin mushrooms.
Police said David Price was taken into custody. Further details about him were unavailable as of press time.
Sgt. Terrance Bell of the Cheyenne Police Department said Price would be charged with felony possession and manufacture of a Schedule I narcotic.
According to the U.S. Department of Justice's National Drug Intelligence Center, the estimated street value of the drugs is about $28,800. But police here said they might not raise that amount of money on the local market.
Bell said officers from the Division of Criminal Investigation and Cheyenne police were investigating reports of a mushroom-growing operation in the basement of the house at 2516 E. 10th St. for a couple of weeks.
On Thursday, officers visited the home with a search warrant. Inside, they found three large, sealed bags of psilocybin mushrooms and paperwork detailing an operation to grow the mushrooms.
The effects of psilocybin are similar to those produced by mescaline and LSD, according to the Drug Intelligence Center. Those include pleasant feelings and hallucinations as well as the potential for "bad trips."
Bell said it is possible officers arrived after the mushrooms were grown and bagged.
"We didn't find a grow operation, but we did find the packaged material," he added.
He said possession of more than three ounces of plant form narcotic is a felony. Laramie County District Attorney Scott Homar said the penalty for this crime is up to five years in prison, a $10,000 fine or both.
The penalty for manufacturing is up to 10 years in prison, a $10,000 fine or both.
Bell said he did not know whether Price owned or rented the home on 10th Street. He added that there is no risk of contamination to the building.
Officers did wear protective masks as a precaution since disturbing the mold spores can cause illness. But since the bags were tightly sealed, Bell said there shouldn't be a problem.
Three dogs also were found in the home. If someone does not claim them, they will be turned over to the Cheyenne Animal Shelter, Bell added.

I bet a mushroom grow room has a lot less mold spores than the average room.

they are... but there are a lot more plants in the schedule 1 then fungi, so they use the word "plant". Three ounces is amount to make it a felony? wow America impressed me this time around, i was thinking he would get life or something since America has the dumbest fucking drug laws ever.

Actually, its not the USA version of the word Narcotic- that was re-amped at the turn of the 1900s for the drug war so they could be bitches.
Narcotic is from Latin, and any substance used is a narcotic, from the "House of Narkon" Well according to hoffmen, schultz.

Heroin is schedule 1, and even still you would be much better off getting caught with 9 pounds of mushrooms than 9 pounds of meth or cocaine (schedule 2 drugs).

Every drug dealer should understand this, the reason why there is an outlet to make so much money, so quickly is because of the LE and the drug laws. If it was legal, noone would be paying $1000-2000 a pound for mushrooms. It sucks, but its a risk you take.

Lol yep, it's a proven fact. Liberals are to blame. And legalizing mushrooms would stop school shootings.
Simple.

$3000 a pound? when i was thinking about going big on a grow, i was planning on selling each pound for $1000. and of course, multiple pounds would would lower in price.
at $20 for 3.5 grams it comes out to $23,040...where is the drug intelligence center getting these numbers from?
