is this any way to treat a laptop?

so i left my pc to scan itself with kaspersky in my room, i went away for some 24h. when i come back my dad says he saw "the computer just working and sitting there with the power cable plugged in and didn't know how to switch it off so he unplugged the pc so it could shut down".
????
now i switch it on and get all sorts of weird errors, my sound driver is all fucked up, half the programs crash and the pc is lagging. fuck, you can't do that to a laptop, it's like taking a person off life support.

i dont think pulling the power while performing an antivirus scan should cause that.
what the fuck could be wrong with it?

i checked System and everything seemed to be okay... that's what worries me. my DirectSound driver stopped working after asking to reboot too. is there any way i can re-install it?
and anyway you people with laptops and power cords - is it normal for the adapter to heat up right? my pc is on most of the day and the adapter is pretty hot which seems to be normal for me, at least.

If it were my laptop, I'd boot to safe mode, hit it with Registy Mechanic, anti-malware, etc. Then I'd check my device manager and reinstall any missing drivers (found on the mfg's website). Finally I'd clean out my msconfig startup items and check to see if I needed a defrag.
