Transferring mycelium in sterilized jars

Hi, I currently have 5 jars(using the PF Tek method) organic BRF and verm.
It's been about 3 weeks, and they look 40-50% colonized.
I was wondering if I could transfer some healthy mycelium with a sterilized spoon, in a sterilized environment- into a few more sterilized jars, with sterilized BRF/verm substrate(at room temperature).
Will the myc colonize in the new jars?

you want to wait until the jars are 100% colonized. otherwise, your current jar could be harboring a contam that hasn't yet presented itself. once its fully colonized, you know that all you have in there is healthy mycelium

the only way you'll know is if you try it. seems like kind of a waste to me, considering you've already invested 3 weeks. if there is an unseen contam in the uncolonized part of the jar then you risk transfering it to the new jars.
basically its a gamble

i agree with somebody041. read up on grain to grain transfers. its the same idea. you will need a glovebox too.

If using pf cakes you will have to make the ones that will receive the mycelium transfer without the dry verm barrier.
To substitute for the barrier use micropore tape over the innoc holes permanently.

Try it, if you fail, you've found a technique that needs refining.
If you succeed, tell us all about it.
Are you using liquid cultures?
(I'd guess you don't have any going since you're trying this.)
If not, start some, and keep those in stock at all times.

Possible but is a vector for contams. If you have the dry verm layer in the jars you intend to take myc from, the dry verm may well have contam spores in it.
You might have better luck injecting sterile water into the jar and sucking it back up.
Either way, i would wait till 100% colinisation
