GGP First Cyan ID - SF Bay Area

I went hunting for my 2nd time today. I posted a ID Request the other day that turned out to be a non active. However today I beleive I found the real deal. The area looked like it had been picked real well because there were holes dug in over a dozen places but I find a few left over that seemed to of been left behind. A few of them have a purplish tint on the gills stems and caps while others are a straight tan color with white stems you can see on the pictures. I found them among wood chips and one looked like it was growing directly out of a big log. I collect some of the Mycelum also. If you could take a look at my pics and reassure me wether they are Ps. Cyan's I'd appreciate it.

This is only the 2nd time. To put that tag on me is pretty arrogant. Everyone has been a beginner at one point or another.

I'm still studying up on making a good spore print. I tried with some misc. mushrooms but didn't get it quite right. I couldn't get it to print correctly. I really thought I had them this time especially since someone else was obviously fooled also. They seemed to have picked at least a dozen or so of them. I even saw some little flags marking the spot. I don't know if they were there for the mushrooms or just marking a spot were new plants were planted. I read the spore print particulars and they say the color is usually brown or purplish. I could see the purplish look without even printing. I was pretty happy at first. Am I crazy or don't they resemble Cyans? I wonder what they could be. It looks like I'm gonna have to wait for my spawn bag to colonize and fruit. Or I was thinking of finding a fellow Prop 215 patient on Haight street to help me find and Identify actives for Maryjane. I know a few people from the clubs that are pretty knowledgeable in Psychedelics. Hopefully some day they will make Shrooms legal for med patients like cannabis. and like cannabis it's not lethal like hard drugs.

the purple ones in those pics are Clitocybe nuda, the blewit.

I can't see your pic, but if they're blewits, which I'm sure they are, then that may explain why others had picked them. Blewits are edible.

I looked up the Blewit and it looks like that is what it is. Thanks for the ID. Sorry for the poor pictures. It looks like they are pretty tasty except I would have a problem looking for anything edible in that park. You can't walk more than a few feet without dodging dirty needles.

thats a good idea to bring reference shots. I was gonna do that but I didn't have time before I went out the door. I definitely will next time. I think I might try the east bay next time. GGP seems way to over picked. I was thinking more towards the marina in the east bay.

GGP is overpicked but theres enough to go around if you dont want to start driving around aimlessly looking for patches.

sturmer88, cyans will most likely be smaller then any of the ones that you picked. They are tiny, the caps are usually the size of a quarter and the stems is about the size 2-3 toothpicks put next to each other. They are not super big in general. You will find bigger ones but you need to be looking for smaller ones. Try parting the grass, they usually do not even come to the surface
-------------------- Stop experimenting half way through your first grow. Grow it to maturity, watch it, learn from it. Do this a few times then experiment with different ideas and figure out what works best for you.

This thread exemplifies exactly the reason I say that "look-a-like" is a subjective term.
Sturmer, you should learn to be able to differentiate between these two species:
