I was wondering, If I could use Bandaids or Microphil, To keep the holes on the jar....Could I put microphil on the the jars before, during or after I pressure cook them?
Oh and Could bandaids work for filtering? while keeping airation?

Wrap the tops in tinfoil to keep the water out of the holes while sterilizing.
With the pf tek you do not need to seal the holes after inoculation unless you omitted the dry vermiculite layer.

if you use rtv and rubber tubing....agar shows a good picture here.....that would work. he uses 'em for LC's but i don't see why they wouldn't work for gas exchange on regular jars too. just add a self healing injection point with the RTV on the surface of the lid so you can really get your syringe down in there. polyfill would work if you used tyvek as well, but i wouldn't recommend it without. I'm sure someone has pulled it off though.

i guess we would have to ask what kind of bandaids then, if they are the fabric kind then i guess that would work(i was thinking those thick rubbery ones)....but if you are going to get bandaids why not reach right next to them on the shelf and get cheaper micropore tape. unless you already have them and you want to use up all your bandaids on jars. but that is just my personal opinion man.

A band air will unstick. If they unstick in the shower it will unstick in a pc.

fabric bandaids dont come off in the shower....but i dont want to be the one to waste a jar to find out if they will in the pc though. i still advocate micropore.

You can get as "fancy" as you want (rtv, double/triple layers, polyfill, etc), but after you hit your complexity peak, you'll start simplifying.
Tyvek and a ring for your grain jars. Cover with foil.
Innoc right through the tyvek, cover with a piece of micropore tape, no need to soak it in anything.
0% contams, 96 grain jars this season and counting.

you should probably wait till you've been here a little more than 2 months before you criticize any of the pros methods. and i don't know what you are talking about soaking but i don't think Ive ever soaked anything besides wbs and cakes/casings when i dunk. and I'm no pro thats for sure but I've done hundreds of jars (and counting) with rtv/micropore lids that i have never ever had a contam in. i only had to make them once, maybe replace the micropore every once in awhile, i don't know how making new tyvek "lids" every round is more simple than that. no offense.
