Dry Pressure canner seal - Rehydrate with Alcohol?

I read that it is possible to rehabilitate dry, leaking pressure canner seals by soaking them in alcohol. The thread this was discovered in was astronomically old, and was not intended to discuss this issue. (I also was looking forward to this thread, which however, incidentally was a topic discussing another alcohol related seal http://www.shroomery.org/forums/showflat.php/Number/6879021#)
so I ask now, does anyone know of this measure? I began soaking mine moments ago to try it out, and there is a new an desirable feel beginning to develop amongst on the rubber.
I believe I will let this sit for one hour, then remove rinse and dry, then try it again, saving the alcohol in the case that it doesn't work, then going back to soaking.
The shitty thing about the loss of your seal, without an amazing amount of attention, you only really find out that its necessary to be replaced, after you have already done all of your jar preparation, and can neither with your heart anticipatory, nor with the developing mold in the jars on your mind, wait any longer.
Be safe y'all. If nothing else I'll let you know how it goes.

Your best and safest option is to buy a new ring. They can be found at most hardware stores for relatively cheap.
If you must forgo the new ring, forget the alcohol. It will do nothing but dry it out. A good overnight soak in water will help to rehydrate the dried out ring.
Also, rub some cooking oil on both the ring and the PC lid and pot to help form a better seal. Mind you, this is only a temporary solution.

Always keep a spare seal around the house. When you use the spare, the next day go out and buy another one.
Also, don't forget to feed them fish or they die of starvation.
