The Most Frustrating Part of Society

The most frustrating aspect of society in my mind is the fact that I try to hold myself to a certain level of respect towards others; I don't steal, avoid cheating, don't say mean things to strangers who can't tell I'm actually joking, apologize for hurting people etc. etc.
I shape a large portion of my social interactions to make sure that I don't screw people with my problems (heck I even avoid bartering when buying things because I think I'm screwing the merchant out of money he deserves). Long story short I always just end up frustrated and filled with hate that in the face of my effort to be a good person it seems the rest of the world is more than happy to just shit on me all day long.
I'm not trying to sound like a Saint, I can be pretty mean at times and I've got a bit of a temper (especially on Xbox Live) but it seems like the rest of the world doesn't even try to set a moral bar to hold themselves accountable to.
Sometimes I feel like giving up and just treating people like shit like they all seem to want to treat eachother. Do other Shroomerites have similar Moral Standards?
Also, I feel that religion plays absolutely no part in this: Just because you believe in the 10 commandments doesn't mean you apply them actively to your everyday life. I'm more interested in people's everyday morals that apply to everyday interactions.

I'm sorry man. We all get down on shit sometimes. But don't resort to the level of the world. Stay nice, stay happy, stay kind. World revolution starts with personal revolution! One person at a time! We can only do our small part and if enough of us keep at it.... Love will spread like the fucking plauge! (one can only hope) So please stick with kindness! It is truly the way.

You need to do whats best for yourself man, call it selfish but its not. Think about it, by thinking about and doing better for yourself you're helping other people. Whether it be inspirationally, or in the case of your family financially. As long as while you're going along you give back in the form of knowledge or in the form of charity.
Happy shrooming, happy growth.

do as you have been doing and consider lowering your expectations. the best that you can do is treat yourself kindly and do the same for others. try not to be disappointed by those who have not reached your level and also find people of like mind and focus more attention on them.

Sorry to break this to you but... The most frustrating part of society is in fact the most frustrating part of you. You're living by some "standards" that make you angry and that are not at accord with what you really feel inside. You do that because somehow you expect the same thing in return. You create in your mind the idea that you are quite an exquisite person that "sees" more than the others, and you're probably a butt hurt which all that does when alone is to complain in self pity about how fucked up this society is and how much better it would be if everybody was like you. If I sound harsh than maybe there's still hope for you to wake the fuck up and start doing the things you actually enjoy and cut the crap and the delusion. If not, you will continue to create a lie and see my post as another mean thing that society did to you. Good luck!

Sounds to me like you have a fundamental problem with belief. You believe in your programming and think it is reality and are hurt and disappointed when "another" reality doesn't fit with your beliefs.
I suggest dropping anything that you believe you should be doing and do what you truly feel is worthwhile for you alone and then be satisfied with that. (I'm not saying it's easy but IMO it's the only solution)

Whats a good place to start to completely re-evaluate ones moral beliefs? I'll admit I'm somewhat stuck in my ways, but if its making me unhappy its worth a shot!

Pay attention to your thoughts. Then see if you really believe them when you take them apart. Its really fascinating and disturbing.
