how to boil jars? wet filter?

in Tyndallization. how does one boil the jars without getting the filter wet. i assume the jars are completly submerged right?
confused? tinfoil?

The jars are not submerged. A veggie steamer works great/better.

I use enough water to cover the first 1/3 to 1/2 of the bottom jars. No More.
Also, Wrap the tops tight with Tinfoil.
I dont believe I've ever had wet filters.

ok good to know.. so dont submerge the jars in the water..

It has less than a 50/50 chance, depending on the endospore count of the grains you're using. Some batches of grain have higher bacterial endospore counts than others. Another reason for the high failure ratio is that many endospores upon germination, produce more endospores within hours.
I'd suggest pressure cooking, but if you're determined to use fractional sterilization, use a pot with a very tight fitting lid, and have the water no more than half way up the jars. Put foil over the lids. I' also boil for 2 hours each time instead of the usual 1. RR

As you are in europe, look into BEEM. They make 15psi (well close enough, 1 bar pressure) pressure cookers.
