Trich?
    #7777949 - 12/19/07 02:42 PM (16 years, 1 month ago)

I've noticed some slightly blueish/green coloring showing up on my cakes lately.
Is this just bruising or should I harvest and throw these cakes out?

NOTE: These cakes were birthed over a week ago and saw no problems until now.

I can't really tell from the pictures, but the way you can check is that molds will appear as a separate layer above the cake. They will look as though green or blue powder was sprinkled in that area. If the cake itself is blue or blue-green on top, with no distinct layer, it's bruising. Also, if you touch mold spores with a q tip, they rub right off onto the q tip. If it's bruising, the q tip stays clean.

Well, it has passed the q-tip test.
My guess is that they were just a bit dehydrated. I have toned down my misting since they began fruiting, so thats my guess as to the cause.

Thanks for the response RR, you're always a help.
