Before I get into recapping the most memorable night of my life, I'll tell you a bit about myself. I have done shrooms several times in my life but lately I have become a fairly avid tripper. That feeling of one-ness with the universe and nature is unparalleled, and when I'm on shrooms I seem to have the answer to every problem I can think of.
First of all, my Dad agreed to get me tickets for the Tool concert as a birthday present, and since then I have thanked him several times. When the Saturday of the concert rolled around, my buddy and I decided that we should pick up some shrooms to really make this night ridiculous.
We talked to our regular dealer and he hooked us up with a 1/2 oz. I'm not sure of the strain or anything, but they were fuckin potent. We planned on taking them a few hours before the show(It usually takes me a long time to catch even on an empty stomach).
We split the 1/2 oz. as evenly as possible and I ate all of my half right away. This is usually a regular dose for me, and it allows me to be on the brink of controlling and losing control of my trip(just where I want to be personally). Shrooms took about 45 mins to kick in and I was already trippin. My visuals were intense almost immediately, as the carpet started to grow over my feet and bright neon colors shot from the TV. My buddy had since taken his and was tripping pretty hard himself.
At this point I though we should get pumped by listening to Lateralus, and after a few minutes of tripping in front of the monitor, we had Tool pumped pretty loud. We sat and tripped to the music, enjoying the hallucinations of my wall of posters. Another buddy of mine had agreed to give us a ride to the concert and he swung by about an hour before it started.
The drive there was a bit of an adventure but being in a car on shrooms always does that to me. When we got down there (still tripping fucking hard)the lineup to get into the arena was around the block! I couldn't believe it but it was true, I guess the event organizers didn't have their shit together.
We had to wait outside for an HOUR, both tripping heavily in a lineup full of hundreds of rowdy drunk people. This was a bit overwhelming at first, but eventually I learned to block it out and just lose myself in the clouds and sky above.
By the time we got inside I still hadn't quite "peaked" and having the security guys checking me was a really different experience. When we got to our seats after missing the opening act, everyone was loud and rowdy around us. Then the lights went dim and the true evening began.
Anyone who has ever been to a Tool show knows about the light show. There were lights suspended above the stage that looked like flying saucers with vivid beams of lights shooting out in all directions.
Since Tool is one of my favourite metal bands I knew the music would be awesome, but the combination of music, lights, and shrooms caused for a truly eye-opening experience. For me most of the time I was just one with the music and the lights. Even though there were thousands of other people around I felt as if me and were the only two things in existence.
Since that night I have taken a much more positive outlook on life, not allowing all the small problems in life to bother me. I would definitely recommend shrooms to people, but do it with someone experienced. If you can just go with the flow and clear your head, then your experience on shrooms could be the most significant event in your life, allowing you to wake up a different person.
Oh, and by the way, when I go to any concerts now(with the exception of maybe death metal)I'm going to see it the way it was meant to be seen...on shrooms.

Man, there's nothing like it. The first time I saw Tool was in New Hampshire. I drove 20+ hours there with my brother (all the way from Tennessee), and 20+ hours back. All for one night of seeing them... but that time, I wasn't on ANYTHING. I regretted that, but I was on the floor and I was really close, so the experience was still awe-inspiring.
I believe the forces that be prevented me from being on anything that night for a reason.
But... after Danny's bicep had healed last year, they came to Mississippi, only a half hour from where I live!!! So god damnit me and my friend took 3 hits of acid and had the greatest concert experience of our lives. I saw Tool the way they were meant to be seen.
There was one point of the concert where their amazing light fixtures above them were morphing somehow... to my acid-drenched mind it looked like a flying saucer covered in beautiful lights was unfolding before the audience's eyes. I thought Tool had contact with humans and they sent their message through their music.
..It was a fucking religious experience.
After walking out, it felt like I was leaving an intense Pentecostal sermon or something.
