120 GigaBytes... all legal of course!
I'm not currently running iTunes, but when I last was, it told me I had about 1500 hours worth (~63 days)!
After losing my 400 GB primary internal drive last month, I picked up two 750 GB internal drives which I plan to RAID 1. Running along with a third internal 200 GB drive, and two external drives (a 250 GB + 500 GB), for even more backups!
Losing data sucks!

Hell if I know, shit changes so fast and I really just winged it by going into my Best Buy store since I had a 15% coupon. I recommend reading reviews. For whatever hard drive you're interested in.. go to Google and type it in, try including a +review on your search string. Visit popular retail websites that carry the product and see if customers have left reviews there ('cause if they did, these are gold in giving you a good idea of how reliable the product is).

Build your own. Way cheaper than buying an external, and very easy!
1TB Western Digital Internal Hard Drive - $259.99 USB 2.0 Hard Drive Enclosure - $26.99
$286.98 = Total Cost

Definitely. Not a lot of people realize that it's the same kind of HDD in an external, and that cases are cheap.

Hehe, my music library takes up about 70% more space than yours, but I only have a touch over 16,000 individual tracks. Probably 'cause such a large chunk of my collection is live concert recordings which tend to produce much longer tracks, and a lot of my collection is ripped directly from CD at 256 - 360kpbs.

I only have maybe 12-13 gigs and I used to have only close to 25 before I delelted all the stupid shit I had on there just to have (that I didn't even really listen to).
Maybe 30 if you count the vids plus music I had on the pod, but that's nowhere near what some of you have, geez

I crave variety, and I work from home where I pretty much play music all day while I work. 30 GB would get old after a while. My collection of digital music has been preserved and growing for over 10 years and over five different computers. Next to my digital photos, it is my most prized digital asset.

THree concerts videos for me. That's it.
My Classical music takes up over 150 gigs. Mainly because most of them are FLAC and APE files. Big files. Around 250mb per CD.

i figure that in the not too distant future, hard drive space wont be an issue anymore. so i have sarted downloading albums in flac format. when space isnt an issue anymore, i dont want to have a huge library of compressed music. i try to fetch 10 flac albums a week or so.

Meh, I can't tell the difference between a flac, shn, or 360kbps MP3, so I don't see any need to keep the lossless formats around. Whenever I do download them, I convert them to 360kbps MP3 using a nifty little program called dbPowerAmp, and nuke the lossless files. Space is cheap and getting cheaper, but why waste it? If not only to save space, also to make file transfers between hard drives and the internet go quicker.
My ~ 120 GB collection includes no videos, just music (though I do have about 25 GB of music video footage as well). My total storage capacity at present is 2.45 TeraBytes... slightly over half of which is used for backups.

I don't know either. But all my stuff is either mp3 or mp4. I don't know about flac and all that, all I know is I convert that shit as soon as the torrent is done downloading. Don't know what it is, don't care either.
